This is the key. The suits need this below at $9 or below. They have until the end of the day to cover. Everyone is saying that the correct strategy is to hold and set your buy order at a very high price. In my case, I've got my shares set to sell at $200.

So what's the story behind this? Like the big shorters are trying to push it below 9 and it's our job to keep it above that?

I'm wondering this also. I'm all for the suits getting crushed, but I'm not going to enjoy riding it down just to take a chance to stick it in the man.

How low should we be looking for AMC to go before jumping in? I was about to pull the trigger at 12.50 and quickly backed out (just before it hit the 12.40s).

Yeah I don’t really understand why supposedly today is the key day to hold for a squeeze next week.

because they're trying to pump up the price before options close today

then you get dumped on

Yes. That is the average price the short seller have to have it at to make money. Anything above that, they lose. They "borrowed" those shares and today is expiration day and are forced to buy at market price. When they start buying, the price goes up. The big move happens when everyone who actually owns shares, sets their sell limits at a high price, forcing them to buy at that price.

So, when the shorts expire, the price goes up?

Theoretically, yes. Short sellers are forced to buy on expiration day. Supply and demand takes over. Imagine you had 5 cars to sell, and 3 guys have to buy one today. Care to guess what happens to the price of those cars?

For maximum benefit, set them at whatever your brokerage will allow.

Power hour should be a hoot today. If everyone who currently owns, will hold until the final hour of trading, we should have a ton of fun!

Keep in mind that the hedges have their ways to manipulate the price in the meantime. Selling and buying their own shares to keep the price from skyrocketing is just one of them. It's a psychological tool to get people to sell cheaply. Don't get fooled.

See here's where you are wrong. The whole reason this is happening is because a shite-ton of people, just like you are buying. The strength is in our vast numbers. Every share bought, counts. There are a finite amount of them.
