re: Haynesville Shale North of Benton??

Remember TigerDog and Pitlacky droning on and on about how the shale thins quickly after 19N, well Goodrich supposedly released findings of a 315 foot shale payzone in Central Pine Island Field, by far the thickest section discovered yet, this well is in the top of 19N just south of Caddo Lake, not far from JW's alleged "screenout". The facts have shown the shale is much thicker in North Caddo than any South Caddo or Bossier sweet spot, the best so far has been barely over 200 plus feet. Yet this does not take into account porosity and many other variables which will affect production.

Absolutely not what that means!!!!!! Keep researching and you will find that what you have stated is very much incorrect.

Flop I heard of a lease today out around the Bossier prison on Old PD road for 10 thousand an acre from CHK...I can't verify it but it came from Kinfolk who had heard it and named the parties involved. You heard anything? I did think it to be unusual since there are no wells anywhere around there close that I know of?

I have not heard of that one, but I like it............. Let me know what you come up with.

Flop you seem to be very optimistic about this whole thing. you without a doubt are certain that People in/around and far north of Benton will eventually be getting some of that $10,000(or more) an acre ? I'm looking for a little light at the end of the tunnel, everyone I talk to about this tells me I'm crazy and that they know for a fact that thr shale drops off just south of Benton. I disagree with them but I'm either over ruled by a number of people at a time or regarded as a liar.

Two things to consider:
1.) This is no longer an independent producer's game. They simply can't afford it. Naturally, they want the lease prices/acre to remain low, so that they can still play.
2.) The big O & G Producers have bought huge leases for high amounts. It will take time for them to get the large rigs in to drill this play, and hold their current leases. You have also heard of them selling portions of their other holdings in other plays. They are trying to free up money to lease more in the HS. If this is truly the largest gas field in the world, then I hardly doubt Elm Grove is the only sweet spot.
Do you agree???

Also, be careful who you get your information from. The people that claim to be in the know have their hands out as well.

Petrohawk and Chesapeake better hope that their stock price doesn't keep on dropping 16% or 9% per day.... that diminishes their borrowing capacity greatly.

CB have you found this new location north of PD yet???
Posted on 9/12/08 at 7:55 pm to Flop
NO I am still trying to verify lease on Old PD road near Penal farm. I will try and ride up Hwy. 3 north tomorrow to see if I can find anything. Getting skeptical on some of this stuff!

Everyone i have talked to either say there is no shale to be had, only sand(haynesville) others say there may be some fingers of shale stretching through to arkansas...

The jury is out, the meteoric fall of gas has kinda reined in the expansion of boundaries for now, just sit tight.

The large companies are trying to shore up profits for the third quarter. We will most likely see some more leasing starting in October.

What does leasing have to do with Q3 profit? All lease costs get capitalized and do not affect profit in this quarter or in any quarter in the near future.

Don't know who told you this but if it is CHK or Petrohawk I would not believe anything they told me...they don't want landowners to know where the shale is...Ask Flop about the so called experts saying it won't go past T19. They have since disappeared off this thread. If shale is present in North Caddo do you not think it is also present in North Bossier? An old geologists told me that it is present here but to what extent it will produce only the drill bit will tell. I would believe him before any O&G company telling me it is not here trying to get a lease for little of nothing. Look at North Caddo as they drill further north and the shale is thicker than areas where activity has been booming to the south. CHK and Petro have their plate full right now. It may be years before they try and get further north but there are small independents looking and are very interested now. Might not get the big upfront lease money until one of them hits a good horizontal well up here! I myself will settle for less up front to get a well drilled. That is where you make your money!

Hey IGNORINGANT, capital is everything, and PHAWK and CPEAK are short on it and have leases burning and at 7-10 Million a pop they need some cash to drill and hold. CASH FLOW is everything, whether it is profits or not, that is why that have sold off billions in assets to play here
Posted on 9/17/08 at 6:53 am to Checkmateking2
Do you see anything in my statements about cash flow? Dont' appreciate being called ignorant! I wasn't even talking about cash flow.
