They have a news conference scheduled for tomorrow (july 15) to outline the changes for the future.
GM stock is at a 50 year low - does tomorrow's news boost prices? What does the future hold for GM? Is this an opportunity to jump on GM's stock at a low price and ride it out for the long term?

generally, i think you wait until you start to see the upswing in prices. this hasn't happened yet so there is still room to lose. i dont think the company is going anywhere, but its stock price may continue to decline

The auto industry ignored the price of oil. The auto industry is controlled by organized labor. Once enough workers get laid off the unions will demand drilling, but it my be to late

It would, however, be a great time to buy a new Tahoe/Suburban

I'd wait to see if they're solvent first.

This is another desperate measure from GM to stay afloat in the future. I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't solvent for too much longer. Unions, poor management, and failure to adapt have combined to cripple the Detroit automakers.

I think they will be lucky to make it through the next three years without being broken up and sold.

Dumb asses. They let the oil companies shove their dicks up GM's arse for waaaaay too long and sold off their innovations in battery technology to the energy companies. We should all have battery powered options on the showroom floor RIGHT NOW but they wanted to sell autos that needed after market parts.
