I use the YTD performance numbers from MorningStar.com. They will show the "surviving" company's YTD performance without regards to any premium that may have been paid to the acquired company's shareholders. I don't try to keep up with any merger premiums for acquired companies. That's just too much trouble.

ETA: I believe we had two companies acquired this year, 2018, in our contest. The acquired company's symbol went away and the surviving company's symbol took its place.

we will see. I've been looking for an excuse to play with that api anyways so I'll see what we can do.

I'm a solution architect by trade so anything like this just helps my resume anyways. with how this year went never know when I'll need that fluffed up.
