It tracks each sale as gains and losses regardless of if you pull the money out or not.

Any time you close a position. Unless we are talking about a Roth IRA. You also need to be careful about swing trading in your account if you have the same stock in the long position. It will sell the ones you bought first and not necessarily the one you wanted to swing.

What kind of account is it? If it's a tax advantaged account (ROTH, HSA, etc) then no you do not pay taxes on swing trades. If it's a regular brokerage account, then you do pay taxes.
