Remember the days when the Money Board didn't stoop to the level of the Poli Board?

I understand exactly what you're saying and I agree. I took out ~$25k in student loans and paid them all back within 8 years. I'm going to be pissed if student loan forgiveness passes because it is supremely unfair, discourages responsible lending and will continue the insane escalation of tuition.
Having said that, I'll be pissed at the politicians that pass it, not the individuals who take the gift being handed to them. Turning down their $50k piece of a multibillion $ taxpayer graft pie will not return a crumb to the taxpayer. Hollow moral victory and that person's $50k portion will simply be absorbed into some other govt bloat. If they want to stand firm in conviction, I'd suggest accepting the $50k write off and then reallocating those funds to the charity of their choosing. If the government is throwing around everyone's money with abandon, this would at least give you some tiny say in where a few of your own dollars end up.

I'll tell you about federal loan help.
When they called and they said they can help me I replied:
"I'm white, Male, and make more than 30k a year. I dont qualify for shite."
They agreed and hung up on me.

There are programs for everything else.
I listened to her at length.
I'm not mad about it. It's just reality.

Not sure what you refusing to take part in some sort of income based repayment program has to do with whether someone should or shouldn't take advantage of forgiveness

I didn't refuse.
They refused me. I met none of the criteria. From 3 different companies.
I was just informing the OP if he meets those criteria posted earlier don't hold out for any assistance. I went ahead and cut a check and paid everything off after saving and doing nothing else but putting cash up to get out from under the debt.

If the Republicans take even one Georgia senate seat there isn’t a hope in hell of Biden passing student loan forgiveness through both houses. I don’t think the Democrats have the votes even if they take the Senate. The amount of money involved will guarantee some people who vote for it lose re-election plus all the people who were responsible paying off their loans are going to be pissed.

I have three loans right now...
$13k loan through USAA at 1.99%
$23k left on my car loan at 2.25%
$50k in federal student loans at ~5%
I can pay all off tomorrow, but with Biden there's a lot of talk about some sort of forgiveness. Also, haven't had to make any student loan payments since the summer.
My other two loans are paid via my monthly military drill pay.
What should I do? Part of me just wants to keep making payments, way to see what shakes out with the federal loans, and invest what I'd spend to pay everything off.
Dude pay off those 3 loans like yesterday.
