Since everyone on here has 830 scores, I wanted to ask the less fortunate ones if you have ever had positive feedback when you disputed anything on a credit report? There are a few items that need addressing on mine.

i have seen it done hundreds of times and it usually doesnt work out. You are going to need a lot of good paper evidence to win the dispute. there is this common belief that if you dispute an account and the creditor doesnt answer the dispute in 45 days that the account goes away. thats wrong and they always answer the dispute.

no problem. i take a credit class every year and swear it is the most confusing thing in the world still. also credit repair companies are a joke. the go in dispute the negitive accounts and your scores go up. once the dispute is removed the scores go back down.

My husband had to dispute something on his, but it was fairly easy. They had put an account that actually belonged to his parents on his report. He and his father have the same first name, but different middle name/initial.

Depends on what you are trying to dispute. I disputed a medical collection and it just showed" item in dispute" on my CR. I started reading the "MyFico Forums" and learned a lot about sending Pay For Delete letters and Goodwill Letters. I typed up a letter pretty much word for word from one of the poster's sample letters and sent it to the collection agency. They called me back and offered to completely remove it from all 3 Credit Reporting Agencies if I paid it off. I also got AT&T to remove a collection from my report by calling them and paying an old bill. Look at the MyFico forums on rebuilding credit. There's a lot of really good info on there. Also, if you have an active dispute on your credit report, it may hinder you when trying to buy a house because while it's in dispute, the effect of that mark on your FICO score is in limbo.

My FICO score dropped 57 points from that AT&T collection I knew nothing about. Luckily, they let me take care of it and removed it from my credit. Many people also have success sending goodwill letters to creditors for late payments and such.

many of them have online dispute resolution options as a first step, so generally it would be good to start there which each of the three IMO
