Does anyone know the rhyme or reason as to how Chase does credit limit increases? My southwest premiere rewards card just got a $5k bump out of nowhere. But, my CSP (which I got the same month as the southwest) is still just sitting there at the same credit limit. Just curious...
I have no idea. Besides the ones I call in for, I just log in some times and notice the limit has increased. There is no telling how long the increase has been there
Just got my 30,000 United Miles for DirecTV which is great. And just hit my $5,000 spend for 60,000 UR for Ink Bold

Cool, didn't know that. AA works better for me as they do 35,000 miles for a RT to the mainland. I just booked my cousin to come out here for 17,500 one way.
I see you're in Hawaii. Bummer you can't do the transfer to British Airways to book American/US Air thing, but those numbers look good for Hawaii.
I believe there are some opportunities using Hawaii and Alaskan Air???

Go on...
I have really gotten out of the FT forums and haven't kept up with MS methods.

My wife just got a targeted 100k miles Amex platinum offer. The fee is $450. We don't travel enough to get much use out of the lounge access, but we do plan on taking a big trip within the next year. Should I jump on this offer? I'm new to the game, but I have been reading on it for the last year or so. Will likely do a few apps between the two of us soon.

If you have an NFC capable smartphone, you can sign up for Amex Serve via ISIS (terrorist scum) wallet and load ($500 a day) $1,500 a month via credit card from the comfort of home. $1,000 a month ($200 a day) with regular Serve.
Not only that, you still get the usual Bluebird-esque loads if you need them.
If you don't have Isis on your phone, download it and it will tell you if your phone is good/your SIM card is the right type. I had to get a free SIM replacement from Verizon to make it all work, but it was painless. I have a Galaxy S4. I also got $25 deposited into my account for my troubles. ATT and TMobile also give money out for Isis Serve.
Note: Amex cards loaded on Serve won't accrue points, but do reportedly accrue spend for spend bonus purposes.

You mean MR points? amex platinum is points not miles. Amex delta platinum is miles but not a $450 fee.
100K MR points ~ $1000. You could always take the offer and use the $550 after the fee and then downgrade the card

Yes, they are MR points. I did some research and saw that some people transfer the points out and then cancel the card, which results in a prorated fee. Anybody tried this with AmEx?

I have a hard time believing that Amex will give you the 100K MR points without charging you the full $450 annual fee.

Yeah, someone was on here talking about the BA to AA transfer and I looked into it. Doesn't work for Hawaii but looks legit if you're on the mainland. I was very close a couple years ago to signing up for the BA card that gave 100k, but I mainly wanted it for Euro travel. BA mostly goes through London which means you pay close to $1000 anyway for taxes, so I never signed up for it.

I have accounts with both and about 10k miles+ in each acct. But their cheapest is 40k RT, so AA still beats them by 5k. Also, Hawaiian doesn't take you to NOLA for 40k miles RT, it will take you to CA. They're like 40k each way to go to JFK. I'll use my Hawaiian miles to do an Asia-Pacific trip or something at some point.

Quick question. I got the Amex Gold Delta last November. I used the bonus in addition to my previous miles to book a flight to Europe. I also just recently got my first job out of college and will be relocating to PHX where I'll be using American as my primary airline. This pretty much renders the card useless for me.
Should I get rid of it as some have mentioned (It's my 2nd CC) or should I downgrade before the November fee kicks in? I know I can't justify keeping it, but which will affect my score the least?

Downgrade.
You have a short credit history. You want tot build your number of accounts and average age of accounts.

I've still got about $500 left, but it shouldn't be much longer. God bless Amazon Payments and buying a couple Paul McCartney tickets

I would downgrade but I'm not sure that line of cards has one with no annual fee... You may be stuck paying $55/yr

I do have 4 AP accounts going right now though from family members allowing me to use theirs.
It's not too hard to hit minimum spends with that.
Just got the Arrival Plus card and United Explorer Biz card this week for my 2 mid-year cards.
Done for the year. Next 2 cards will be SW personal & biz in January if they are still running 50k point offer to get the companion pass.

In my job I am going to have reimbursed job related expenses around 15-20k/year that are educational and don't fit any "category" for rewards I can find. Any suggestion on what card would reward me the most? Don't care too much where I have to spend the points
All the purchases would be made from professional organizations and their affiliated shops

Will you be using this card strictly to handle these expenses, or will you be putting other spend on here as well?

Nope. Just Amex. Chase and Barclay's etc will earn points. Amex is just smart about their stuff.
In other news, apparently Barcelona is cracking down on AirBnB. I'm not happy about this. It's the hotel equivalent to the stuff going on with Uber. Grr
Always nice to time spend bonus with a project...or Sir Paul

Amex has great spending bonuses...

I am decently happy with my other cards but I wouldn't be opposed to spending more on this card.
Right now I have a.discover but.not great at non bonus points and a MasterCard that gets 1.25% I believe.
