Points gurus, I am in the process of planning my honeymoon in January 2020. We are looking at doing an all-inclusive in the Caribbean. I know that's a contentious subject itself, but we've never done it and that is what we have decided on for the honeymoon. I have looked at several islands, but leaning toward St. Lucia currently.
I would like to utilize points as best as possible. Currently I'm sitting on about 80k UR points and 80k United Miles. The United Miles seem pretty worthless for Caribbean award travel from the searches I've done.
My plan right now is to rack up as many UR points as possible and book an all-inclusive through the Chase portal. I've got a CSR, Freedom, Freedom Unlimited, and Ink Cash. I've done some manufactured spending before and plan to start up again. I figured I would do this for a few months and then book around mid-June, 7 months in advance of our trip.
I guess I have two questions:
1) Is mid-June a good time to book a mid-January 7 night stay at an all-inclusive? Too late? Or can I wait later?
2) Is there any other strategies you would use to build up points or use the points more efficiently? I am over 5/24 until March 10... so I was trying to hold out until then before doing any more credit card churning.

I went to sandals grande st Lucian for my honeymoon and loved it. Been to many all inclusive since and st Lucia is still one of our favorites. Are you flying out of New Orleans? Because I’ve been able to use United miles a good bit out of New Orleans. What I would do is search all three major airlines and decide which would be the least amount of miles on your dates and then get the airline credit card for you and your wife so you can each use the sign up bonus for the flights. You can get the AA card being over 5-/24 and the delta card as well. You could always tell your fiancé to apply for a card you want assuming she isn’t over 5/24

The Sandals Grand St. Lucian is what I was actually leaning towards.. also checking out the Anse Chastanet but that's likely going to be out of our price range.
Yes, we will very likely fly out of Nola unless somehow BTR has a better option. I'm holding off until March 10 to get under 5/24 and get a couple more Chase cards, but I could grab an AA or Delta at that point as well. I've also never dabbled with Amex MR, I keep waiting to see that Platinum 100k offer..
Fiancé is 2/24, so she could churn some UR earning cards, but I am wary of combining our points until we are under the same "household." I wonder if I could call the CSR instead of booking through the portal, and see if they could combine our points and book our stay over the phone.

You could do Hawaii with some light MS and pay for your stay, a Mexico AI easily with what you have or totally free with a little more MS. Not sure about Caribbean but interested to see what the thread gurus advise.

Look into the Hyatt AI properties, the Ziva are always getting good reviews, for sure have ones in Jamaica and a few spots in Mexico. Transfer UR to Hyatt should be 25K/ night for both of you is a great value. Park Hyatt St Kitts always gets good reviews as well. Not sure if those are what you're looking for but your UR can get you 3 nights for free today before the MS

Apologies in advance if this has been asked a million times already but I signed up for the Chase Saffire Preferred card in August and added my wife as an authorized user. We got our 50k bonus.
Can she turn around and sign up for the Chase Saffire Reserve card, add me as an authorized user and we get the 50k bonus again?
Or do they protect against that?

Need help picking a new card to churn. I've already churned the chase sapphire reserve, chase ink business rewards, amex platinum cards. Any good options?

you like AA points? You can get the Citi AA Platinum/Business cards and the Barclaycard Aviator/Business cards. The Barclaycard business card appears a bit tougher to get though
Those would give you around 250,000 AA points

My annual fee for csr just charged and I plan on downgrading for refund. I have 40 days to do so for full refund.
I have the $300 credit available, but have no travel plans. What can I do to use the travel credit before downgrading? Are there gift cards out there that count?

SW credit cards trigger it for the Amex credit, might work for Chase too since you buy from Southwest.com. Don't know for sure though.

Question bump
I’m in the market for my first credit card. I read the last 6 pages or so and it wasn’t clear what the best option is. Who has interest free financing, best perks, and no yearly fee? Thanks in advance

I'm not sure if you have credit established by some other means, but I've seen Discover suggested as a good first card option. If you have a thin credit file, it can be difficult to get approved for an unsecured card. How long are you looking for 0% APR?

I'm looking into getting a new credit card for traveling perks. I think I have it narrowed down to CSR or CSP. I'm trying to decide if that $450 annual fee will be worth it. I have several trips in mind that I would like to take over the next couple of years. Just trying to get the most bang for my buck. Looking at some of my trends my biggest expense seem to be restaurants.

The annual fee is really $150 since $300 is automatically credited back for ANY travel (parking, uber, tours, etc.) without any hoops to jump through. $150 for lounge access, global entry ($129 value I think?) and an extra 1% on food and travel and better redemption rates on travel makes Reserve a no brainer to me especially if you're about to travel a lot.

If you are going to travel 100% get the CSR over the CSP.
It's an absolute no brainer like the previous post mentioned.
