I have the platinum card if that makes any difference

Open a British Air Avios accounts. Transfer your Amex points to Avios when there's a bonus (1.4:1). Now you have 112,000 Avios. Use Avios to book tickets on American Airlines domestically for as little as 7500 Avios per flight leg.

Aternatively, you can transfer your British Air Avios to Iberia Avios and fly from New York to Madrid for 34000 Avios off peak in Business Class.

Not honoring reservations, status, etc. Bonvoyed.com is a whole site dedicated to how bad they've been. I would hope it'll be something they'll straighten out with time but 100K is a lot and could probably get good value.

My status was upgraded after the change to Bonvoy. I've stayed at a Marriott property a few times since the change and received my perks and room upgrades every time.

Once or twice a year.

All flights route through LHR, so it wouldn’t be a practical way to get to Asian destinations.

Never use Avios to fly on BA across the ocean. They tack on fuel surcharges. Use them on a partner airline to avoid the surcharges. You should be able to get to Asia as they have partners in that region.

Beginner's Guide to Using BA Avios

British Airways is part of the Oneworld Alliance. Their partners include American Airlines, Finnair, Cathay Pacific, Qantas, LATAM, Japan Airlines, and several more.

Sometimes amex does the transfer at 1.6:1 for Avios but those seem to be few and far between now.

I used my 100k signup bonus for 2 round trip tickets to Europe last years using the flying blue point system via KLM and Airfrance. Granted, they were economy, but still valued at over $5k as it was technically 4 one way tickets from different destinations.

If you have more points, you should be able to get round trip business class through flying blue for 50k each leg if you are flexible with dates.

UR points also transfer to flying blue.

Anybody else have some good/better travel partners getting to Spain? I am trying to plan a trip and using flying blue with similar results as posted above.

Google how to use Iberia Avios to get to Spain.

ETA: I see Buckeye mentioned it a few posts up

It'll take a couple steps, but if you have a schwab account, you can get their version of the Amex Platinum and transfer to an account at 1.25 cents per point. Certainly not the best redemption or "value" but if you prefer cash that's one way to go.

Finally got my wife approved for the 100k Amex Platinum via AMEX's pre-approval tool.

Been a couple years waiting for that to show up.

Now I have to hit $3k spend on Hyatt in 3 months for half that bonus, $4k in 4 months on wife's AA card to hit that bonus, $5k in 3 months for Plat, and then back to Hyatt for another $3k by end of six months.

Daycare costs for the win.

Finally have my credit score high enough to open another credit card but want it to be a good one.

What’s a good one?
We like to travel and never get the chance, so a points based one I can use for travel?
No annual fee or worth it if enough points?

I’m a n00b so any help appreciated

FYI OD has another $15 off $300 on vgcs this week. I will finish the Ink+ 5x 200k limit this week

Somebody cleaned out the grocery everywheres on College this week. The lady asked me why I was buying so many. I said because I needed to send them to my cousin who I found out was a prince in Nigeria

Is Chase the only bank that utilizes 5/24 still?

If we don't anticipate Chase coming out with any big time cards soon, like CSR when it came out, should it be open season right now?

Closed a few accounts last month and looking to get somee new ones. I have a few big purchases coming up in June. Looking to start racking up some AA points for when my SW Companion pass runs out at the end of the year. Will use AA while I work on getting the GF companion pass.

Need to find best card to go towards AA and thinking about doing this Capital One Savor Cash with $500 bonus. First year $95 annual fee waived and I'd cancel before year is up.

Also, with 2 SW cards I'll get 9k points for my anniversary. Can I get the points and cancel the card to avoid the annual fee? Don't think the 9k is worth the $160 of annual fees.

Does anyone know what Fred’s codes as for credit card purchases? I’m thinking of trying some 529 gift card purchases while available.

Just applied for a Capital one card with an 810 credit score and didn't get approved. wtf Never not been approved instantly for any card.

Got an email saying me they’ll give me more details within 10 business days. Wonder if I should call them or just wait.
Wonder if it's because I used different mailing address than my other cap one card on file? Ridiculous.

Yes you can cancel the SW within 30 days and still receive the anny bonus and get refunded the annual fee. Although the amount of points is close to equivalent to the cash value, makes sense to at least get the SW points.

Awesome. Can’t believe they let that happen, but I will do that.

Other card companies are looking like they have some version of 5/24 (different number of course) or inquiry limits.

It becomes a little dance. Since my wife and I have probably 14 Chase cards among us I'm open season on other Banks as I draw down my Chase portfolio. Starting to hit Amex now.
