Well frick where are the answers?!

The answers are always Changing. I know the fkyertalk specific cards usually give good data points.
I the the CSR retention reps are allowed to offer certain retention plans based on the card and the value of the business you give them by spend. I've spent tens of thousands of legitimate dollars and got nothing, and others where I spent crap, and got my AF waiver or enough? points for meeting new spending requirements?, that it's a new brainer.
It's timing and your value at any given time. Never hurts to ask. I call and ask on almost every card with an AF. I had about a 75% success rate with receiving a good offer 2 years ago. Feels like it's dropped to less than 50% lately.
If you dont get a retention offer amd want to cancel, go for it. If you want to keep the card and don't get an offer, just say you'll call back but leave card open.

There is no way Chase is giving retention offers on the CSR, right?

That's tough. With their recent report about the card being unprofitable, might not be much of one if any at all.

Having a pretty good month so far

I'm trying to find a flight in the spring from New Orleans or Pensacola to Turks and Caicos or another small island in the Carribean. I have 75k UR to spend and could go through the portal but was wondering if you all had any other ideas. I can find some overpriced availability through American, but not through BA. I was hoping to take advantage of their mileage rules. Any advice?

im a novice with the reward game....what are some monthly big ticket items you guys may pay with a reward card to get the most out of it? I know a mortgage isn't one but was thinking of starting to take full advantage of the ones I have. fyi have chase freedom unlimited and chase SP. I was thinking of cancelling CSP though.
thanks for any advice!

My car insurance (Geico) goes through my Freedom Unlimited. My cable/internet goes through my Ink.
Without doing some legwork, I find that there aren't many recurring bills that let you pay with a card.

I put everything I can on them. Utilities, car insurance, termite contract, gas, groceries, internet and cable, phone bill, medical bills, contact lenses, etc.
It all adds up pretty quickly. I never use cash.

Check redemptions on Flying Blue (Air France/KLM/etc.. partners with Delta). You can transfer UR to Flying Blue and I believe Flying Blue still prices in the caribbean as a domestic roundtrip redemption from the US. So looking at like 30K miles to transfer plus taxes/fees.

I read a lot of nightmares about redeeming on Flying Blue. They don't know what they are doing it seems like and you can risk being caught in a vortex of stupidity.

Yeah I just spent 45 minutes on there that I won't get back. In any event, probably going to just use the portal for this one

Just realized that the AMEX Blue Cash Preferred card AF went from $75 to $95 when digging through old records for something
I thought it was only new applicants that had the increase not existing.

So I just tried Flying Blue/Air France in incognito mode and it worked a lot better.

Ive been jumping straight from Flying Blue to Air France to book. Found it fairly straightforward when I actually wanted to book a flight. Found the flight, held it, transferred points from UR, booked and paid in about 10 minutes...but I have found a normal search through FB can be very log in intensive.

Finally got Chase pay to work to get 10x URs at Walmarks.com. Then they gave me a $10 discount to extend shipping from 2 days to 4 days. Better than shopping amongst "them"

How did you hold the flight, online or on the phone?
Posted on 8/15/17 at 10:28 pm to LSUtoOmaha
Just transferred miles in a new tab in the browser, refreshed page and miles were there.

I think that's when the problems start from what I've read.
Hopefully it works out.

So I had a Chase Southwest Premier card for like 3-4 years.
I recently got a Southwest plus card for the 60,000 points bonus.
My Premier card hit the annual fee this month, so I called to cancel. The CSR offered to give me a $100 bill credit to offset the annual fee and keep the card, but it seems in my best interest to cancel this card and reapply in 2 months or so when they offer a 60k bonus again. Does that make sense?
Only problem is I lost the 0% foreign transaction fee. I may sign up for a new non-Chase card that has a good bonus and no foreign transaction fee. Any recommendations?
