If you're a Caribbean guy you could save avios for those 10K one ways to the isles.
I save mine for one day going to Easter Island. Maybe one day that day will come.
Either way, I wouldn't throw them away just yet. Practically one of the only currencies still good for distance based.

I ended up burning them. I figure with the slowdown in apps from moving to TX and buying a house again, I'm setting myself up for a solid refresh of UR if not Avios if I need them. I still have like 20,000 left, these points just don't go away. My normal spending without even trying too hard generates over 30,000 points a year, and I could be a little better with my Ink card on that front.
Plus, with said house getting new floors, stair rails, etc, saving $750 off the hotel is nice. I would book cheaper hotels but the wife works hard and that is what she wants
I'm going to scope out using Korean Air's chart for Africa. Might be able to get seats by battling away from the herd.

Will have the answer for this on the 19th. Billing statement closes and a friend of mine used my old ink referral and received the card. He is entitled to the bonus. Lets see if I get the 10K referral bonus. Thing to note though is that this was a couple of days before the new ink came out.

Got my new chase sapphire card. How does the concierge part work? They say you can get concert tickets and dinner reservations. For the dinner part, will they somehow get me a table even if there are no reservations on opentable.com? Otherwise what help is it considering you can get a reservation in less than a minute. I would imagine calling them would take longer.

will say this, over the summer, part of my parents summer europe vacation included a stop in istanbul which ended up becoming a disaster as they landed there the day of the coup. I called chase, and they arranged a a car with a driver, from istanbul to greece for them to get out. I couldn't even get in touch with my parents the phones were not working, i told them the hotel and that was it, they arranged the whole thing and got them out. Pretty cool stuff they can do honestly

I just used the Visa Infinite travel portal for the Ritz Carlton card and scored two round trip tickets to Miami from Dulles for $192.00 TOTAL after the $100 discount. It was almost a 2 for 1 purchase. Next I'll upgrade the seats to premium economy using the same card and get the travel credit for the upgrade.

Sorry to derail, but quick question. I have gotten some great advice on utilizing points for trips in this thread (Special thanks AmeriKop45), but that was before the travel board was created, and I didn't know if that was the more appropriate place to ask those types of questions.

I'd keep the miles and points questions here. It's more consolidated and helps the new people as well.

You got any good award deals for hotels in New Orleans? I have a 3 night stay coming up and am really not looking to pay $.
I have ~150k UR, 100K MR, 100K marriott pts, 20K SPG.
Prefer Marriott/SPG but at this point anything would work.

Depending on your dates you could look into either SPG or Marriott properties. Remember you can transfer SPG to Marriott 1:3 and vice versa.

Holy cow. I remember (from the coup thread) that your parents were in Istanbul. Very glad to hear they made it out safe and sound.

Just booked a flight to Madrid with my new CSR. I needed to use that $300 travel credit before the end of the year, and came upon a flight to Madrid for $362. I couldn't pass it up.
How are flights so cheap right now?

That's round trip. May 11-31 out of Boston (which I'll use my SW miles to fly to).
My dates were very flexible though, so I was able to search for the best price. Still many options out there though.
I've been seeing cheap flights like that all over the world. If there is ever a time to travel now is it apparently.
