What kind of rewards do you want? Do you travel a lot?
If yes - Chase Sapphire Preferred is for you
If no - Go with the AmEx Blue Cash Preferred
The sapphire will go well with your freedom as you will be able to use points earned on Freedom to transfer to partners. AmEx card is great if you spend a lot on groceries. For someone who is only willing to get 1 - 2 cards and doesn't travel much, AmEx BCP is hard to beat.

Most likely, the ticket number is generally attached to the charge.

currently only have Chase Freedom. Which two cards would be recommended for someone who doesn't spend a ton of money but still seeks worthwhile rewards?
Brother had a 760+ CS (top tier) with only a chase freedom for 4 years. Regardless, adding credit lines isn't bad as long as it doesn't kill your history
You should look into alternatives though, Double Cash is solid to pair when they have a $150 sign up and ~2% cash back

Mine was over 800 with more than 4 years of history and was told it could be an issue.
Thanks for the responses. I'll look into Sapphire, Citi Double Cash, & the AMEX

Just make sure that you are using the mortgage scoring models. The scores are different than what auto or credit card companies use. Specifically, they want more trade lines
If you are >2 years history, you are solid with additional cards. Easy to calculate

If you are frugal and not a spender, I would suggest citi double (as I said) + Amex Blue Cash Preferred. That would give you an awesome/easy 3 cards to use
Amex Blue - 6% grocery 3% gas - Everyone buys food, you can buy gift cards for Amazon/flying and solid gas card
Citi Double Cash ~2%- About as good as it gets for spending that isn't a bonus
Freedom - Bonus 5% quarter - Solid option for rotating bonus groups. Better if paired with Sapphire but fee may not be worth it to you

Anyone see the USAA credit card that got revealed?
No fee and 5% cash back on military post & gas spending ($3000 cap). So the commissary (grocery store) and other places all get 5% back
no signup bonus sucks but that is a legit rewards % for a no fee card

Thanks again for the help. Figured I was better off asking here than google searching.

I wouldn't open anything new then if you are that close to purchasing.

It's not an immediate certainty. I've found realtors much more willing to deal with you if you're preapproved, so I figured I'd get it done. I was just approved for Citi Double Cash.

Nice. It is a solid card but I hate the fact that it comes with absolutely no signup bonus. So I think it is best to just product change to this one instead of burning an HP. If you do the math the 6% back on groceries, 3% on gas and dining and 1% everywhere else plus the sign up bonus of $350 easily makes up for the lost 1% in some spending. That is why I don't suggest the Citi DC to people unless product changing.
Good card none the less.

Just keep in mind that after the preapproval process, you will get questions about adding a new line of credit + inquiries.
You just have to sign a LOX. I would caution adding any more. Multiple new lines of credit are a huge red flag for underwriters from what I understand

Doesn't look like he is trying to get too involved in the game though. DC is a safe solution for what he seems to want to do

Amex Blue has a $350 signup bonus?

Yeah. The $350 is easy to get plus another $100 I think as a bonus on utilities. The public offer is for $350 total ($250+$100) but you can use the VPN+Incognito trick to get the higher offer.
You can also emulate coordinates on google chrome by going into developer tools mode by pressing Ctrl+Shift+I > Emulation > Emulate geolocation coordinates. Then use google maps to find coordinates of wherever you want to emulate (Dallas and Atlanta work best IME) and enter those coordinates in.
Clear cookies and history before you do all this. Once you have the window up and coordinates in, then try to click: LINK. Hopefully the 30,000 point offer for the EDP will populate for you. If that happens, then you can go to all the other cards from there and all of them will have the higher sign-up bonus.

SPG being aggressive. Just announced another promo for 2+ night stays may 9 - July 31. 3x at Sheraton, 2x at other properties. Was planning to shift to Hyatt for their promo but not sure now.

So. Aer Lingus is starting to look enticing for European trips. There are no fuel surcharges and Avios can be used for their flights. 12500 Avios in economy from Boston to Dublin. From Dublin I can take a cheap flight to Milan or just use some more Avios.
Iberia also has some interesting options. They do have a fuel surcharge but it's much lower than British Airways in that regard.

Ya, I've seen that option before. Very cheap way to get over.
Btw I'm staying here on the money board. I think the Travel Board may overwhelm me.
Maybe a picture thread will start there or something though.

Need some advice. In Bora Bora right now. The air conditioning at IC Thalasso has been broken the entire time we are here (entire resort). It honestly has not been that bad as there is a good breeze at night, and we are active during the day. The manager offered to move us for a discounted rate to another hotel, but as I am staying for free, I declined. He stated he would refund all points for nights we stayed with the ac out. So we will be getting back 250,000 points. At first I was still annoyed (once in a lifetime vacation with a damper on it), but it honestly has not been bad.
My question is, Should I get this in writing, or would you take him at his word? He states they will be refunded at time of checkout, will take about 10 business days (I can confirm this is how long it takes when you purchase points).
For your troubles

The bungalow we stayed in when I was on Bora Bora had no ac and we were fine. The Internet as we know it now also didn't exist. We were there a week with no phones, no tv and no ac and loved every minute. So I'm no help.
Posted on 4/14/16 at 1:37 am to VABuckeye
Yeah. I am not the least bit upset now, but I'm also not going to deny someone from offering me 250,000 points. To be fair, it's billed as a 5 star resort. If I was paying $1200 a night with no ac and the feels like temp is 102, I'd be pissed.

How did you go about booking those reward nights? Did you book le Moana and just transfer as they became available, or book thalasso all at once?
