Side question: Have you been to Lima? There are pretty solid direct flights from Atlanta for $700 round trip throughout the year. If I get the CSP I may use the bonus points on it.
Posted on 3/25/16 at 10:59 am to LSUtoOmaha
It's on my list. I know some folks here have. $700 isn't terrible but I've seen that flight for as low as 400ish using Houston

Hyatt and IHG next for you.
If both is not an option, which would you get first?
IHG with 80000 bonus points or Hyatt with 2 free nights?
Posted on 3/25/16 at 12:30 pm to Teddy Ruxpin
Gotcha. I could drive to Atlanta though. Houston may not be worth the $300 in savings if I had to do a domestic roundtrip.

The Hyatt with two free nights will allow you to stay at a hotel with a rate of $800 a night. The IHG may get you 3 or 4 days at a standard hotel. I would go with (and did go with) Hyatt.

For sign up bonus: Hyatt>IHG bec of what LSUtoOmaha said
For annual free night. IHG>Hyatt. Hyatt is cat 1-4 free night. IHG is at any property.

I just stayed at the Park Hyatt NYC for the second time with the Hyatt signup bonus. $850/night, or $1,700 total, for $1k spending...If you use it right, I don't think there's a better signup bonus value out there.

Apparently the new Chase Freedom Unlimited card is immune to the 5/24 rule.
Is this through personal experience or from reading elsewhere? I would actually use this card above the SPG (which i currently use) for non-bonus category everyday spend.
Speaking of which, what cards do you guys use for this kind of spend? i.e., no category bonuses and no initial spend to meet.

Ink. To "mix in" regular spend and so that not all charges are $1,853.7 at staples.com

AMEX Everyday Preferred. We almost always have more than 30 purchases in a month on non-category spending, so I get the 50% bonus on MR points.

Best way to get rid of ~60k United points? It seems like every flight I go to book I can get a cheaper price somewhere else. And they added new fees if you want to transfer points to someone else.
At this point I just want to get rid of the points so I can cancel the card.

Hmm. United points are still so valuable. Consider these options:
1) Upto 3 destinations in Europe (European Hopper) or South America - 60K points
2) Northern South America is 40K RT. (Galapagos Islands maybe?)
3) "Carribbean hopper" is 35K.
4) North America to Africa to Japan and then back to North America is 70K
5) North America - Fiji - Australia then back is 70K
I simply can't get enough of UA points. Which is why they are the destination of most of my UR. UA and Korean

If thats the only reason you use EDP, consider these options:
1) 50c GCs on Amazon.com
2) Individual item check out at self check out

Where to? And if I say buy two RT tickets for 80k but only have 60k, how much will I have to pony up?
Any good point deals on North America to Asia? Would be flying out of Miami/Ft. Laud
eta: any idea what 60k points is worth in terms of airline $?

Never makes sense to fly to Asia in Economy using miles. Air China, Eva etc always have fares that are so low you are better off buying cash and covering with points (bad redemption).

ETA: Got confused with Chase points. UA miles are harder to value. But anything between 1.6c+ is a decent redemption. Preferably at least 1.8c. Not hard to do with stopovers. But you can't directly convert United points for cash.

Fly to Baltra, Ecuador (GPS)
Columbia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Peru and a couple other are options.
You could either buy 20K points when points go on sale. Or just buy the second ticket with cash. Or transfer from Chase if you have Chase points and Sapphire/Ink/Unlimited. No way to do points + cash

Is it hard to find good international hotel deals w/ united? Going to Colombia soon and could use the points for a hotel.

I just applied for the CSP and was approved. How long should I wait in between applications for approval?

Go for another Chase personal or business card today. They will merge your apps into one.
You can also go for 1 Citi card, 1 AmEx credit card+1 AmEx Charge card, 1 BoFA Card, 1 Barclays
However, I suggest get either one of:
1) Hyatt/IHG (See discussion above as to which one. I've linked the best offer on Hyatt previously. To find the best offer on IHG, make a "dummy" booking and see it there).
2) Ink (Another 60K CHase UR + Best earning potential of all Chase cards. But this is a business card. You don't need to have a business to apply for a business card, but if you don't feel comfortable with that, skip this one)
Get 5 chase cards before branching out. Or Chase will exclude you after 5 apps of any kind.
Please see my edit above regarding this.

I applied for the Ink and received a message that my application required further review. I don't own a business. Hopefully they don't cancel the Sapphire that was just approved while rejecting the Ink.
