I'd give it real thought if I had TYP.

There's also an option to do the DFW-NRT leg on your favorite JAL instead of AA (AA codeshare still). But obviously you won't be in a lie flat

Chase going full 5/24 isn't going to help since my wife's SSN will be on the sidelines all year. When is it okay to use your children's SSN?
Got another mouth to feed on the way so traveling is going to slow some. I'm probably going to commit the cardinal sin and try to horde for a couple of years to try n pay for future family travel.

Or you could maybe go into a CC detox.
Btw, did you stop applying for CCs before you bought your house? My suggestion to most people is to stop 2 years before they think they are potentially in the market for a house. But I have no first hand experience with this. Any insights? If you were still aggressively applying, what effect did it end up having, if any?

I had a card opened about 2-3 months before home mortgage (weren't expecting to get mortgage at the time). They just asked for a letter of explanation

One card? Hmm. For me, and some other people, this case might be a little different.

I did a fair amount of research and I ended up just cutting it down 6 months prior. Went to financing with a 772 at close. My expansive credit portfolio(12 lines revolving) was never even brought up. My wife had 8 lines open. We didn't carry any debt outside of a vehicle note though.
I was always thought the 2 year rule was appropriate as well, but as with most things credit related, most of the popular school of thought is wrong.

Mortgage lenders don't mind an extensive credit file as long as it's used prudently. As long as this is the case it doesn't pose a problem.

I have one still but I only used it for the CitiGold deal which still hasn't come through
Should I try to use it when I need to do $10k spend soon or will I get stuck somehow?

Any insights?
I bought a condo in May 2015. I got the United card in July 2014 and the USAir (now Aviator) in Dec 2014. I did wait to get the IHG when I was looking at it in April 2015 and will always regret it although it may have screwed with me buying the condo if I would have gotten it. I got it in May and the "trick" was gone and I missed our 5 nights in Bora Bora
But I did get a condo across the street from Waikiki Beach

Data Point:
Might be extremely useful to txtiger97.
Just got off an online chat with a customer service rep. I requested a match to the new offer for the spg card I had received back in august (30k) offer. They said they couldn't match me to the higher offer because offers change all the time, but gave me 5K "courtesy" points immediately because they "value me so highly as a customer"
ETA: Points showed up as soon as I refreshed the page. Great start to the day. Now off to WD to "give back" to AmEx some swipe fees.

Can anyone help out with some MS ideas? My go to was Visa GCs from Albertsons but they no longer sell $500 ones.

Whats your liquidation method? If it is not serve/bb then Winn-Dixie GCs will work. May work with serve too, but now GCM VGCs are all Sunrise bank, which seem to have a problem when loading serve at WM.
However, I just received my Staples package today and all those were GCM MetaBank VGCs.
Since I know that Albertsons stop selling Variable load VGS about a month and a half or so ago, I'm thinking you're not trying to do high volume. If so, you could try NWB.

I was buying GCM Visas at Albertsons, then buying money orders, then depositing.
I'd prefer to buy GCs and MOs.
I just don't know which $500 GCs have a pin and where to find them.

They are exactly like the ones you are used to buying at Albertsons.

Is this 35k SPG sign up bonus pretty legit? I usually dont stay on SPG properties, but if this is a no brainer sign up bonus I will go for it.
I got a 60k+ $50 statement credit offer for the Delta gold card yesterday. I will be jumping on that one pretty soon.
