Any chance that spg upped it because they know program will be devalued in near future with merger?
Could be. But they are also getting killed lately and losing business all over their CC portfolio so they may be taking measures to keep customers.
Also, think about Barclay's in regards to American. They got to keep servicing their cardholders and amex may be trying to get as many people in as they can similarly or to later turn them on to other products, etc

35k spg Amex business offer.
I put in an app for the Ink Plus recently so I'm waiting on that one to come through and then I'm getting this bad boy by 3/30. 40,000 SPG after spend is great. Now I just have to spend $10k in 3 months between the 2 cards

May not be devaluation but it's quite possible that the card may be going away.
AmEx might be trying to offloead their stash of spg points which are all bought at once every year.
I think that may be it most likely. Wouldn't be surprised if their is an even bigger bonus a little later. Am I willing to risk it though in anticipation? Probably not.

What's Amex's scrutiny on Biz cards? Same as Chase?
Posted on 3/4/16 at 1:11 am to Teddy Ruxpin
Not sure but I doubt it's as bad as Chase is on my app for the Ink. I cancelled my SPG a couple months ago but I don't think I'll have a problem getting their biz.

I probably have a good 15-18 months left or so to reach the required 22% equity.
How long have you had your house? Once you reach 80% you can request the PMI to be taken off. Save you a good amount of time

I'm leaning toward Chase Freedom which is 15 months plus a slew of cash back benefits. What are the boards recommendations?
Easily this. Best card out there for combination of rewards + 0% APR intro

Another Serve purge by AMEX today...I think they're trying to kill the product.

Teddy Ruxpin and LSUAfro - are your serves still alive?
Posted on 3/4/16 at 10:43 am to cmlsu
Yep...they got my other one. Dumb.

Mine was smothered in its sleep in January.
Looks like there won't be a good reentry point.

Eh. I'm looking into other prepaids as a side bet on current activities. My biggest volume is on MOs currently, and that has always been the case.
Any one have any experiences with any other prepaids?

My Serve is dead
I haven't done anything with my Paypal business debit card in awhile so there's that. Might brush up on it again and give it a shot but I know how crazy Paypal can be so not sure its worth the trouble.

Anyone know if Amex matches promotional offers to current? Signed up for SPG when it was 25k last month. Haven't hit the spend yet. Will they match it to 35k offer like chase usually does? Secure message? Thanks!
Posted on 3/4/16 at 11:33 am to txtiger79
Flyertalk people say no go on Amex matching that offer.

AmEx doesn't match. But ask for the manager when you call in. They will most likely give you 5K courtesy points.

I have the PPBDC. It is not a re loadable product like the reloadable debit card.
As far as the PP re loadable DC goes, I can never seem to find any PayPal My Cash cards in any store ever.
Like you said PP isn't worth it. Except maybe to meet min spend at 2.9%

I used to load the PPBDC with My Cash at CVS and they were typically behind counter. (It has been quite some time though)

Posed with one of those "amazing ops" out there:
1) $435 return ORD to NRT via DFW on AA. ~14.5K flown miles
2) Use ~27K Citi TYP to buy the ticket
3) Credit flight to AS (have 75K MVP matched from SW CP)
Haul:
1) 29K Elite Miles (100% bonus with status) on AS (qualify for gold again)
2) ~32.6K AS redeemable miles (125% bonus with status)
3) See Tokyo
All for 27K citi points + placing yourself in ORD on a cheap ticket. On the way back skip the last DFW-ORD leg and return home if you're in Nola/BR area. How cool is that?

That is nice. Good find.
. I feel like I get swindled somehow every time I'm there. I want to like it, but just come away aggravated every time.
NRT is way the F. Cabs are expensive as hell. The address system is mind boggling. Nobody speaks English.
Most redeeming quality of Tokyo is the toilets.

Just do a mileage run. Think of it as you transferring 27K Citi points to 33K Alaska Miles. Gold status re-qualification is a sweetener.
But I guess at least gold MVP is a must here if you would do an MR. Unless, ofcourse, you want to earn it now.
ETA: There's also an option to do the DFW-NRT leg on your favorite JAL instead of AA (AA codeshare still). But obviously you won't be in a lie flat
