Not a MS'er (had to type that one carefully). Sure one of them will chime in.

My Facebook is blown up with people going to Peru
Not only was one other poster here going to Thailand the month before me, between my wife and I there were like 10 people going or in Thailand the same time we were.
Was weird.

Thailand is another one. Everyone wants to go to Thailand and Peru. They are the hip places to go for people trying to discover themselves. I guess Europe isn't cool anymore

I like Europe alright, but I'm more interested in places people from Alabama don't go to instead of Paris and London, though I would like to get to those.
Thailand has been a backpacker favorite for well over 30 years I think.
Expenses plays a huge part in the preferences.

You will learn a lot about yourself in Peru. It will take an immense amount of physical restraint to keep you from killing a pan flute player.
I'm telling you, that place is the biggest shite hole and I can't imagine going back. Maccu Pichu is legit and I'm glad I got to see it but I would pass it up knowing what I know now.

I want to keep bringing up flute players just to get you to post more about them.

I actually enjoy going to shitty places so that sounds pretty fun

I like dive bars in other countries. Meet and get drunk with the locals. On S. Croix I met half of the people that run the USVI in a dive bar. Director of DMV, Director of Tourism, Senator, etc. Had a blast with them.

Good thing they knew English.
In Thailand the communication was basically Happy New Year! on Jan. 3.
Still a good time

Just applied and got instant approval for Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select (50k).
Will report back after completing min spend and first statement close about receiving the bonus or not.
That completes my quarterly AoR.

All you need to confirm is the welcome letter stating the bonus.
Posted on 2/8/16 at 8:36 pm to VABuckeye
Didn't you re-apply for this recently VA? Did you get that welcome letter?

Done VA, thanks for the recs. Did you use them anywhere else (Rome?)

If you don't mind me asking - which month are you going?
Had to make sure I booked our tour first
We get to Rome on 6/21 and then head to Latvia on 6/27 after hitting Firenze and Venice. We'll go to Amsterdam on July 4th for a few days on the way out
When are you going?
ETA: Just booked our one night in Venice at the Westin Europa and Regina for 20k SPG

Can anyone give a review on the Barclaycard Arrival+?

What is this shite about?
I guess I'm just unimaginative as we're going to go to Maccu Pichu soon too. I love the 7 Wonders type experience. Angkor Wat was my favorite with the Great Wall a very close second (we camped to a prohibited location and actually slept on the Wall). Chichen Itza was cool too.
We can fly for 25k miles each way from HNL to LIM on AA before the deval so really considering booking ahead. I'l stay away from flute players it sounds like

Sure, you should sign up for it if you want the $400 sign up bonus. Then you should downgrade to Arrival once the 1st year is over to avoid the fee, but keep it as its the only Chip and PIN card widely available in the US (that im aware of).
It effectively earns 2.1% cash back but costs $89 a year. There are a few other 2% cash back cards that have no annual fee which makes this card ultimately a loser in its category after year 1.

My point in action-everyone is going to Peru

I thought a read somewhere, maybe Nerd Wallet that it isn't a good card if you don't spend more than $4K a year on it. Would that be a fair assumption? I would do that easily, also the no APR on balance transfers is what is attractive to me. I know a lot of people suggest Chase Slate for BT's, but it has no reward program.
