Yes, that indicates it was upgraded. One way to be sure is to request a replacement card assuming the account is still open. It should have a World Elite logo on the back. But it sounds like it was upgraded. You still need to follow the 65 day rule.
Another way to check is on the main page for your account, it will say a new card has been sent to you and to activate it when you receive it. You don't need to activate it. But that is another indicator that you were upgraded. On two of my accounts, they were upgraded but I never received the new card.

I used AA card and funded 10k.
That freaking Citigold was my best AA haul yet. Had literally JUST gotten a fresh 75k/$5k Exec card complete with a ridiculous $45k credit limit. I mean that thing was still sticky-tacked to the mailer it came in on. 120k points from the load plus 50k for the account itself.
Still waiting for those last 50k to post as well though.

Ahh cmooon. I've had that message on my account since literally a month after I applied and got my card about 10 months ago. That's 4-5 apps missed

Why not look into 50K prem (can still be gotten) or Prestige that will give you access to travel partners?
That's a plan for the future but just haven't gotten to it yet.

I totally had this come across and never got new cards.
I had read about this weird upgrade thingy but just kind of brushed it off. Guess I shouldn't have.

So the 18 month citi no churn language for my hilton card states that you are not eligible for the two certs if you have opened or closed the reserve card in the previous 18 months. I opened my reserve card two years ago...I may just keep it open and apply again this year. That way, I have neither opened nor closed the account in previous 18 months

Like I mentioned, I haven't personally applied based solely on the upgrade situation. It does appear tried and true based on people's reports on flyertalk though. If any of you apply, let us know how it goes. Citi is doing a much better job sending emails and showing on the website how far you are to achieving the bonus spend, so it will be very evident if you are in line for the bonus or not.

I'm looking at getting the Citi Prestige Credit card soon. I want it mainly for access to the Lounges. Seems like its a good deal with the $250 airline credit each calendar year and global entry credit.
Any thoughts on this card in particular? Does anyone know when they charge you the $450 annual fee? Also looks like 50K bonus points aren't too shabby but then again I've never used ThankYou Points.

Probably my 2nd favorite card after Sapphire Preferred.
I am a HUGE fan of this card. Mainly because of the 4th night free benefit. Basically - anytime you book a stay for at least four nights, you get the 4th night free (per stay). You have to call the travel desk to book this though, but they have access to all chain hotels and many non-chain as well. They have the same prices as you will see yourself online. And they can also use AAA and AARP prices. I use this benefit pretty much every other week when I'm travelling for work. And this could be ANY amount. No limits to how much and how many times.
It gives 3 rounds of golf to select golf courses. Includes some very nice ones if you're into that. And there is a way of getting upto 13 rounds free internationally.
$250 credit automatically brings down the fee to $200. And this is not a hard to use, jump through loopholes kinda credit. You buy anything from an airline - you get the credit throughout the year upto $250.
And like you said - Lounge access is immense. Gives access to all AA lounges when you're flying AA and all priority pass lounges. I've been to some really nice ones.
Global entry + points that transfer to Flying Blue and Singapore.
In short: $450 AF is too good to be true for this card. Get it while it lasts.

My assumption was you could just buy $250 worth of airline tickets each year and get the credit? Is it trickier than that?
Couldn't you time it where you could get a $250 credit twice during one annual period?
For example: You get the card in July 2016 and get the $250 credit for 2016. Then in 2017, get another $250 credit before your annual period ends in July.
Also, are you charged the $450 annual fee upfront?

Yes, thats what I meant to say. Anything you ever pay for to a airline is reimbursable upto $250. Unline Amex cards.

Absolutely.

Yes. This and any other credit card with an AF charges you the AF on the first billing statement when you get the card and then every membership year from then.

Unlike Amex cards
While nowhere near the ease of use as prestige's airline credit, it is pretty easy to get the Amex credit without actually using it for random incidentals like baggage fees etc. You can manufacture a charge that gets reimbursed pretty easily although it varies by airline. For united, you just have to fund (your own) gift registry which you can then use on airline tickets. Many have also reported success using the united shopping app to buy Amazon gift cards. Other methods exist for other other airlines.

Yes that's what I meant by jumping through hoops. I buy sw gcs to compliment my cp . Works just fine with $100 at a time

I get your point but buying 4 $50 Delta ecerts and getting the $200 credit back for the amex platinum is pretty dang easy
I do like the citi prestige/csp but I am in too deep with DL/Amex to get out from them now. I have another 2 years at least.

What is the trick on the 13 international rounds? I will be signing up for this card soon to allow me to play Sawgrass for free.
Posted on 2/3/16 at 9:28 am to GeauxTigers777
Its only in Asia. Basically in all the available golf courses in Asia, you can do 3 at EACH rather than 3 total.
You get 3 annually everywhere else.
See the list of available golf courses HERE

Yeah. I have been looking through courses for the past week of so. i think I can get significant value for the first year and then decided whether to keep. I'm looking at playing TPC Sawgrass 4 times ($1600), Carnoustie ($200 min), and another course ($200). 50,000 points (minimum $650 in points value; will definitely be greater), $250 Airline reimbursement, $100 global entry. That is a minimum of $3,000 value for one year (6 rounds since they are on a calendar year). Likely the 50,000 points will be worth $1,000 to $2,000 minimun and possibly as high as $4-5,000. Not a bad sign up at all. I'm waiting to Mid-march to sign up to give adequate time to use all three courses before the second annual fee in case I decide not to keep the card.
