3/31-4/5. Thanks for the help. Doesn't look like I'll have enough.

My wife and I are about to start new construction on our home. I am thinking about getting a new credit card to accrue points while also kee3ping new home purchases separate from other purchases. What is the best credit card option to accrue points for this scenario? I will not be using this for gas or entertainment, only for materials so I am not sure what the best option there is that applies to these purchases.

Is there a particular vacation destination you were hoping to do?

No. I am just looking at getting the best bang for my buck since I am spending a considerable amount of money. It could be mikes, gift cards, cash back...

Well that's really going to determine the answer to your question.
Without a real plan, I'd say Chase Sapphire 55k(50k plus 5k to add an AU) offer when you spend $4k. You can use as statement credit, gift cards, or transfer to travel partners(best deal).

Around what range do you think you'll be spending? Why limit yourself to 1? If you'll be spending 15-20K, then you can take plenty of vacations once you're done with your project
Like LSUAfro pointed out - if you have something particular in mind - it is much more effective to accrue points. Other than that you wanna stick to bank points - Like Chase, Citi/AmEx in that order.
If you just want to stick with 1 card - I'd suggest looking into the Chase Ink. You can buy Lowe's or some other home improvement store GCs at Staples and get 5x points. This is in addition to the 60,000 bonus after 5K spend in 3 months.

That also assumes he/she has a business and wants to run a CC app through their business. I've found that most aren't comfortable with applying for a CC and not actually having an EIN or legitimate business and I understand that.

I'll be applying for the ink in February before they institute the 5/24 rule on business cards.

It doesn't already apply? A buddy of mine got denied for too many apps last year when he applied for the Ink card. It was maybe his 5th or 6th in 2 years. He wasn't happy with me.

Doesn't apply right now but about to be soon. I applied for mine last week and got approval email today. Have 14 apps in last year. No business. Used SSN and sole proprietorship.

Damn. Didn't know that. I assumed it was all UR products. Well all be damn.
That will be on my list of things to do.

I need a reminder about the credit pulls for business cards.
Even with an EIN are they going to look at the individual?
IIRC I read it was 1st card they are going to check individual, then after that the business will have its own report.
I'm just trying to determine if I should slip my wife through before it all goes down.

Yes - first one will be on your credit. Until your business has enough history of its own and is registered appropriately. As long as you call yourself a sole proprietorship - it'll check your credit. LLC, S-Corp: liabilities are not backed by your assets, so won't check your credit.

Ya I've done it already for myself twice as a SP.
However, we are thinking about setting up an LLC that has nothing yet, so I'm just debating if I'm going to LLC first then apply or not with the looming changes under her name.
Though, I suppose it doesn't really matter because either way I'm going to put revenues at 0 and not call recon.

Can't say I have too much personal experience with biz CCs. Obviously except the basics. Never call in, never lie. This ink was my first one. Opened a can of worms.

What are the odds on Alaska 50K offer coming back this year? Time for my next AoR and this is one card I'm considering. 25K upon approval + $100 credit after $1,000 spend. Have MVP 75K.

In the last two years I've gotten:
Chase United biz 50k
Southwest premier biz 50k(annual fee waived this year by calling)
Amex gold biz 75k(15k MR point retention after year 1)
2 BOA biz 25k
Citi plat 50k
I did this as a 70-80k revenue LLC.
My wife got the ink with zero revenue.
It's really been like having a 3rd family member being able to apply for apps. I can't really give much insight to the impact it has on my rating(still and has consistently hovered around the 750-810 range) how long the apps sit on report, but I will pull my report soon and give some feedback.

If I had to guess, not good, but that's a guess. The ability to churn that card with the $100 credit makes it a no brainer for me. The biz card doesn't get the $100 credit unfortunately.

Oh and I called to "cancel" my personal spg card and got nada offered. I asked and got nothing so I cancelled. Damn shame. Going to apply for it and the chase ink biz cards here shortly.
My wallet is thining out. Only cards kept in it now are Barclays AA aviator, freedom, ink, Amex gold. I'm putting my non category spend on Aviator. I can earn UR easy and the Amex gold gets 3x gas so I can get those fairly quick with some GCs at gas stations if need be.
