Thanks for the link. It seems the only guy who knows anything has been inundated with PMs and is not answering anymore according to his latest post. I'll go through the thread some more. It seems not only did the glitch get fixed but they have taken the availability down and I guess many people are just booking dates some with no intention of using them. I am beyond pissed off about this whole thing. When you and I were talking back in April I could have gotten 5 nights easily in a row which is what I want, but didn't have the points yet as we were waiting to close on our condo. Ever since then, it's been no go on points. Really sucks.

Other guys here know more about Chase but I'd say it depends on how many Chase cards you have if you're going to cancel and reapply. I don't think the credit knock is too much to worry about.

That sucks. Keep looking, and since I am still reading a lot on what to do etc, I will shoot you an email if I find any new glitches.

Chase freedom plan worked, auto-approved tonight with another large credit limit. Now I can take a break from chase since I got my 2 UR cards.

I mean are you really worried about a couple point deduction of your credit score? I have closed 3 cc accounts recently and my credit score never went down

Just got off online chat with Citibank confirming that I met the Citigold 50,000 American Airlines requirement. Just waiting on it to post now.

So those links and offers worked for those who didn't have a prior relationship with Citi Checking and had an AA credit card, which I do.

That's good news. I haven't confirmed with Citi, but I should have met requirements.

I guess I'll be signing my wife up for an account. I believe I have until the 31st.

I had my wife call in to Chase to get Ink Plus fee waived that hit in November. No go. FT has plenty of successful fee waiver reports.$24k spend. Probably half of it in bonus categories though. They didn't offer her anything and she hates having to call in to CC companies, so she was miffed I told her they would . We're keeping card though.

Oh and YGM.

Ya, my heart stopped for a moment when they were typing out "The requirements were" I was thinking I effed up somewhere.

Getting my wife to do that is like pulling teeth. I ask on Monday, she puts it off anywhere from 4 to 10 days. As if she is busy or something

Sucks on the fee waiver. I should really try to put more effort into that, but I don't even argue down my cable bill. I'm a pushover.

Thanks bro

Yeah...It's usually so easy to get something though .

I'm about to commit a real sin. I'm converting 30k MR points in to 10k SPG points at a 3:1 transfer ratio.

I need 50k more Alaska miles to book two first class Emirates to KUL, so I'm going to do the SPG "Nights & Flights". 5 nights at a 4-star SPG property and 50k miles to an airline of your choice at a cost of 70k SPG miles. I just don't want to risk losing the dates that are available right now since we're on a very rigid schedule. Oh well...

Gotta do what you gotta do, homey.

Rigid schedules are the worst. Can't wait til my wife gets higher up at her firm so she doesn't give me exact dates that I have to work magic to achieve.

In other news, my mask and snorkel came in for my Thailand trip. Don't mind the $40 to avoid putting my mouth on a rental.

Yep. This is my wife's fault too. We've got a couple more years until she gets a more flexible schedule. Looking forward to that.

I understand. I forgot mine on my last trip to French Polynesia. Had to grab the rental snorkels for a few days. There is no cleaning. They hung it up when turned in and handed it right back out. Not gonna lie, I'm not a germaphobe, but that's some nasty shite.

Showing this to my wife right now because she thought I was being dumb.

I'm about to take a picture wearing it, my gopro, my dslr on my neck and my backpack on.

Tourist or soldier of fortune? You decide.

Idiot is also a reasonable conclusion

Wear knee high socks with your sandals to complete the outfit.

If you really want to fit in on Khao San road don't take a shower for a week. Might even want to consider the Rastafarian look.

The words of Sukhumvit in no particular order:
Suits
Tuk Tuk
Jewelry for the lady
Watches
Massage(without the wife this pitch is a little different )

I have a pretty good guess

All these bums in New Orleans make good practice on how to ignore people.

Sounds like my indifference for going there has turned into outright avoidance. I hate that smell. Had some guy bussing/serving us at Ale on Oak St who smelled like that. Gross.

I'm in the "I hope I didn't forget anything important" part of the planning.

My wife keeps bringing up her desire to have a massage every day while we are there...every day while we are still here. She keeps thinking we need to book now or something. I try to tell her it isn't exactly a nonrenewable resource.

That's about it. The touts are pretty relentless for white faces, but you just become numb to them.

Meh...you can still walk through if you're in the area just to say you did it, but I was pretty glad I wasn't staying in the area.

No need to book. Legit massage places are on every corner and several in between and walk-ins are the norm. If they get too busy, they'll call their friends working at the massage parlor across the street to come help out. I saw that a couple of times.
Once I thought I was in a legit massage place and was offered a little more bang for my buck . Apparently I wasn't real sure on how to tell the difference. As long as your wife has a good sense of humor and isn't easily offended, I thought it was pretty funny.

Getting massage on demand is very easy. 30 minute lower body massage for $6 USD was pretty awesome after a day of walking. I usually paid about $10-12USD for full body hour and left $3-$5 tip. We got one every day.

Taxi ride from BKK to Sukhumvit should be about 400 Baht max. Negotiate the fare or make sure you say meter when you hop in. They understand the word meter, so don't let them act like they don't. Those damn cab drivers will stress you out .

ETA: Oh and are you getting clothes made?

I think we may have talked about this. As I only have a couple days in Bangkok I'd need a guy who can measure and deliver to the states. I think you may have had a suggestion. If you don't mind emailing it I'd love to consider to check it out.

I decided to pay the $40 to have someone pick us up at BKK. Decidea it was worth not dealing with those folks fresh off the plane
