Which app/websites are we using in 2024 to shop for vehicles?

Dipping my toe into the market for the first time in 4 years.

TIA

Cargurus.com far superior.

Carmax doesn't negotiate. So it's easy and no hassle. But you'll get better prices thru cargurus.com.

I like Cargurus but it has its flaws. The "best" deal usually has a sketchy past or dealership. The most money off book value isn't necessarily the best deal. Their rating system could use a lot of improvement.

We've sold to carvana and bought through carmax.

Carmax doesn't negotiate price.
But you can often correct anything on the vehicle on their dime. You just have to look carefully and closely (one purchase had a nail in a sidewall of the tire).

If you are wanting to research cars, caredge is probably the best right now. You get the most from the $9/month subscription. You can cancel whenever.

If you are just wanting to buy, pick one

Edmunds
TrueCar
Carguru

No need to use just Carmax, unless you are hell bent on buying from Carmax. You will pay a premium for the lack of negotiation . Carmax prices lag actual selling prices by a few weeks as well.

Car Gurus or Autotrader and then contact the dealer directly. You can do it through the site as well. All dealers have sales people specifically for online now.

You were really using the app to find the car you want. The negotiations from there on between you and the dealer. That’s one thing the Internet has made great you can find the exact specs you want on your vehicle, even if it’s three states away.

App or not…..

Wait until the end of May.

Tax refunds are going to pump prices up for a minute.

Wait until the dog days of summer.
