So if a gallon is $3.35 per gallon, could someone breakdown that $3.35 for me in terms of taxes, actual cost of producing the product, overhead... etc.

Very curious to hear the boards thoughts. Thanks !

It's 9/10 of a cent not a gallon and I don't know the answer to your question.

Taxes vary from state to state.

Not sure, but I would imagine you are still getting more bang for you buck than spending $1.50 for a gallon of water.

The margin most gas station retailers make on gas is very slim. They mostly sell it for convenience and to get customers in to buy some $8 batteries or a $3 honey bun.

Yeah, I've heard they will make 1 or 2 cents a gallon.

I was talking to a owner today and he told me that he was taking a loss on gas. I called BS and he showed me some invoices and sure enough he was paying more for gas than he was selling it for

Bingo. I have multiple friends with gas stations... their money is made through the overpriced products they're selling in the store. The gas is what's getting them in there.

There are also several other hydrocarbons along with BTEX chemicals in gasoline. In fact, we should be wearing vapor respirators while handling gasoline according to msds on those chemicals
