In garage...would need plumbing to get hot and cold water to area...also need dryer vent...and outlets for special plugs...what else?

That washing machine has to have a drain line and the person giving the rough estimate would have to know how far a sewer line, water and the breaker box are from where you want to install these items...

Pretty precise estimate...if it's really that much, I'll pass :)

Have you considered getting a replacement washer/dryer with larger capacities?

No way a plumber or an electrician can give you a decent estimate without coming out to look.
For the plumber you would need to know how far from the existing sewer line and existing water lines is the new washer going to be. For the vent is it on an interior wall or exterior wall?
For the electrician he will need to run a 220 line for the dryer so he will need to know how far from your circuit panel is the new dryer.
This is impossible to price out via the web. I could see a plumber charging al little as $500 and as much as $2500 alone. Depending on existing lines.
