Over the years I've learned that my wife is not a fan of me putting her friends on blast. So to avoid marital strife, out I went.

Also, as an aside, WTF is up with Tahoes? It's the mom car of a certain segment of ladies I encounter, and it always seems to pair w/tri-tone highlighted hair, a certain age, gel nails, and sorority membership at a regional state school. I could really name a dozen women I know who fit that exact description who drive various colors & years of Tahoes.

You nailed all of it except this woman didn't go to college.

Sorry--I make no claims regarding the Tahoe as a vehicle...just that it's the on-trend thing for a certain set I encounter. I dunno why you'd choose a Tahoe for hauling kids over, say, a Honda Odyssey. But what the hell do I know about that, I drive a GTI.

The worst part about that situation is most wives would give the husband hell for trying to help their friend learn a financial lesson, instead of agreeing with you on their friend being a dumbass.

You should at least tell her to refinance. 16.9% on a car loan? WTF

99.9% of dealerships don't do in house financing. Give them an opportunity to secure the financing for you. 72 month car loans right now are in the 3% range with great credit thru Chase, Cap One, TD Auto Finance, Etc. Good luck.

they go up to 84 months. CFPB and OCC have both said the terms of the loans are what they are auditing for as those lengths really take advantage of folks that will trade in their car upside down in 23-27 (national average) months.

Not when it is 0% interest with no prepayment penalty, I don't mind using someone else's money.
