If so, how do you invest to protect from this?

Not if we exclude “the volatile food and energy” sectors.

Printing money is inflationary.

It’s more money in a system for the same amount of goods.

Put your money in market and it will go up with inflation

Hard assets, real estate, commodity based stocks, energy, financials are all items the "Pros" mention when talking about inflation protection.

Equities give you a chance to keep up with inflation.

I don’t know much about crypto, but maybe it will be the new gold.

Strong Banks could do ok if interest rates rise modestly.

Yes. To what degree is a subject of debate, but you don’t want to be left holding a giant bag of liquid cash with no assets in the event that it’s higher than expected.

Invest in appreciating assets. Real estate, index funds, precious metals and crypto to an extent.

What Index Funds do you think are best?

Real Estate.... like land? Or rental properties??? Vacation rentals?

Easiest ones to get started with are the ones that track the S&P 500 and the Russel 1000. Also some international based funds.

I’m not a sophisticated index fund guy, just use Schwab’s provided large cap, small cap, S&P, and international mutual funds for my IRA. My wife insists on using a target date fund that underperforms in hers.

Yes, they already have. CPI excludes the everyday sectors that are seeing the inflation.

Don't hold cash. Invest in appreciable assets. Bitcoin.

I have never understood the “target date funds” only because there should be like 2. About to retire and will retire in 30 years. Retiring in 40 years vs 15 years should be the same fund.

Don't buy into the whole gold crowd. Look at the historic trend of gold and you will see its just as volatile. S&P index is all you need.

They aren't printing money and QE is not inflationary
