I'm now planning a trip to Savannah Georgia later this year. I have CSR and was considering getting rid of it before my AF hit to avoid the higher fee, but I did notice there are "the edit" hotels in Savannah, and it mentions a $250 credit and breakfast/$100 hotel credit to use, which might make me change my mind.

But I keep thinking there is a catch or something. When I compare the 4 Edit properties to expedia, expedia is generally cheaper by $30 or so dollars a night, but if you get the credits, then it's still cheaper via Chase.

I'm really just trying to figure out if the edit option is a good way to book or not and how best to take advantage of it.

I'm looking at a 4-5 night stay, so could I book them separately the same day and get both $250 credits?

So the way it works is you get one $250 credit for the period between January and June and one for the period between July and December. And its when you book not when your actual stay dates are

So you can't make two separate bookings on the same day. But in theory, you could book two separate 2/3 day stays. One on the last day of June, and then the other on the first day of July, and you still should get both $250 credits. At least you do with AmEx FHR but maybe Chase is different

Do not expect to get both $100 property credits though. You will probably only be given one

Whether or not is good or not is up to you. Do you value the free breakfast and $100 property credit and when you factor in the booking credits, is the value still there? Again just depends on you. I was in Spain during shoulder season and was able to get some really good deals when you factor in everything I got with FHR (AmExs version of the Edit) but next year im going to Japan during high season and I doubt the credits will make much of a dent

Thats how AMEX works for their hotel credit; Chase for the Edit is 2 $250 credits on any stays booked within calendar year at any point.

You can book 2 back to back 2 night stays right now for whenever (this year, next year) and get 2 $250 credits (Like a Wed-Fri and Fri-Sun) immediately if you pay now.

Yes you can book say a Wed-Fri and the Fri-Sun and get 2 $250 credits (1 for each "stay" even at same place), make sure to pay now not at the hotel if its for a date later than this year, to get this years credit done

You can triple stack the edit with the $300 general travel credit (if you havent used it) and the IHG/omni ("Select"), etc $250 credit as well.

For example my wife and I booked an Omni in Orlando for Jan next year (2 nights). Cash price was $875. It qualifies as the Edit, so that's $250, it qualifies for the $300 annual travel credit, and it qualifies for the limited time IHG/Omni (handful of other hotel) credits. So that's $800 off leaving just $75 left. It ALSO qualified for points boost at a 1.65cpp redemption, instead of paying $75 OOP I redeemed 4688 points to pay for the remaining $75. So consider turning on points boost too and you might get something that is 1.3-2cpp redemption which is nice.

Lots of edit hotels are very very pricey so just be aware of that, but there is a Kimpton in Savannah that would qualify as IHG for that $250 credit as well, so something to look at.

This map shows Edit + the $250 select hotels credit

Use that link to look up edit hotels in blue and then IHG/Omni or other select hotels that qualify for the separate $250 credit in green. The green ones are the ones you can double stack (Edit $250 + Select hotel $250 credit) or triple stack with the $300 general travel credit as well....points boost could also help cover any difference you have leftover at higher than 1cpp redemption.

It really depends. For instance, if you have Hilton gold, the breakfast perk is worthless. That being said, I just returned from a trip where I used an Edit hotel. They treated us great. In addition to the breakfast (which included additional options vs regular guests), we used the $100 credit for a great dinner at the hotel. They also gave us fruit and a bottle of wine upon arrival, unlimited free non alcoholic drinks in the mini fridge, and also packed us breakfast (without us asking) when we had an early checkout. I was very pleased.

To get the credits for 2026, the stay doesn't have to be in 2026, just booked and paid in 2026?

Yes book two separate stays of at least two nights and you'll get both $250 credits. Doesn't matter if the stay is in the future. Also you can get an extra $250 credit if The Edit hotel you book is IHG, Montage, Pendry, Omni, Virgin, Minor, or Pan Pacific.

Yes the credits are given on the booking. Not the stay

I'm surprised they allow that. I'm staying 4 days, so I will just book it as 2 2 day stays.

From what I've found on reddit, most hotels dont even require you to change rooms either even if its 2 separate bookings. I like that chase does it this way than the Jan-Jun/Jul-Dec way AMEX approaches it, ebcause you can just turn a 4 night stay into 2 night stays with the full $500 credit in this instance without having to game it over 2 different parts of the year.

AMEX platinum has its benefits too though because it requires just a 1 night stay if you choose a fine hotel/resort over The hotel collection.

So each has its own perks depending on what you see as more valuable.

I think they likely did this because The Edit has not been as well received as the Amex version, so its their way of keeping it competitive. The Edit has fewer options, not as good of deals, etc.

OP, everyone answered you pretty well here. I recently used Edit and FHR credits at one hotel and it worked perfectly with all credits and welcome amenities, etc.

This will depend on the hotel and who's checking you in sometimes. Always smart to be really nice to that person haha
One point, whether it's Chase or Amex, you'll likely not get the $100 credit twice if you book back to back stays with the same program. It says so in the rules. I got two separate $100 credits (Amex and Chase bookings) for 4 nights and the girl checked me in on both reservations at the Intercontinental Madrid, so we didn't have to leave the room. I have read of instances of people "checking out/in" by having to just go downstairs after their first stay, but it's mostly just a re-key and a minute of the Front desk typing.

I haven't booked back to back stays with FHR or The Edit but from what I've seen online most of the time if the hotel sees the same name on back to back reservations they will consider it a single stay and you won't get double benefits. One possible way around that is to actually check out after the first reservation and then check back in for the second. Not guaranteed to work but staying in the room for both reservations very likely won't get you double benefits.
