You have no idea how much money a year I run through American Express at 0% interest. My company is spending the money anyway so I might as well get a benefit from my spending.

As you said, they charge the merchant the processing fee and not me.

same.
i run pretty much all business expenses thru chase/amex/starwood reward programs (outside payroll and rent)
enrollment offers alone tend to be enough for 2 1st class tickets.

concerning that around the world flight via ANA...
i'm pretty *sure those were all business class tickets....which would normally cost $10-11k out of pocket
just joining amex plat and running $25,000 in business expenses over 3 months would net you 125k points (which is more than enough for that round the world trip)

What can this be used for? I rarely travel, but when I do, it's typically for vacations and I don't generally stay in hotels. I tend to rent condos or houses and I've found that to be almost impossible to redeem credits for, depending on how the owner classifies the purchase.

I've seen credit for hotels, flights, UBER, and even parking on my CSR. Generally, I burn through that $300 quickly on just one plane ticket though, so I don't have a huge data set to rely on.

Yeah, none of those would really apply to me. I'd be hard pressed to use that each year. Sounds like a good benefit for you, though. Kudos.

Honestly, I've given some thought to the Cap One Savor card. 3% on food and 2% on groceries makes up the vast majority, by far, of what I spend.

It's all about what works best for you now.

That said, if there's a trip you want to take in the future there's nothing wrong with accumulating points/miles over time and redeeming them in the future.

Slight disagreement from me.

The merchant is likely adding in the fee into the price of the good sold.

But this benefits the credit user as the good is the same price regardless of payment method used. The loser is a cash purchaser, who is subsidizing the credit users.

Remember. I’m buying materials for my company. My price is my price. Check, account with the company or Amex payment. On a big job I’ll put it on my account with them, then move it to Amex to free up more credit on my line with my supplier and then pay off the Amex. Sometimes multiple times in a month. What I pay for my goods never changes.

Now, they might be factoring this in for their clients nationwide but everyone is paying for that so why wouldn’t I still want to get the points?

That's what I'm saying. The person not getting awards is subsidizing those that do.

Oh, the cc fees are driving up the cost.

Or you are paying too much. But no one is eating those high arse Amex fees

You don't seem to understand. Everyone is bearing the cost whether they use a credit card or not. At least I'm getting a benefit from the use.

You also don't have a clue how much volume I'm purchasing in materials through my company which leads to a better pricing tier than smaller companies.

Just booked a FHR 5* hotel with a free night, $100 food or spa credit, premium room upgrade, free breakfast for 2, early checkin and late checkout. Paid with $ as I'm saving points. No hoops, and even before the free night the rate was cheaper than offered anywhere else including the hotel directly. Single purchase worth the $550.

What's the difference between Platinum and Gold benefits wise? I'm about to get a business credit card, do about 40k a year in expenses but that will probably double or triple in the next 2 years. Been using a debit card/ checks. I hate CC fees, but I was just scammed and it left me without a debit card for 7 days because of the dumbass bank. Time to play the points game too.

My problem is I don't really travel that much for business and my business is all local so little gas or expenses. So a majority of my purchases are materials, none of which are in a qualifying category.

Difference in Benefits between Amex Business Gold and Business Platinum

Numerous differences. Centurion Lounge. Higher insurances. More credits. $200 airline fee credit. $100 Global Entry fee credit. Marriott and Hilton gold elite status. Amex Concierge (which is a great benefit).

I use mine almost exclusively for materials. I know I only get one point per dollar spent but they add up fast. I also don't worry about bumping into a credit line limit when I have a huge project to fund. I've put upwards of $100k on my business card at a time and Amex doesn't blink.

Haven't used the Amex Concierge. What's your experience with it?
