Talking to some people from Magnolia Arkansas today and they were talking up a lithium extraction plant in Magnolia, basically saying they have already started producing lithium from brine water and are about start producing and selling lithium for batteries in 2024. Anybody in on this?

There is A LOT of competition in this space. I know of at least 4 companies racing to get this built in the US alone

I’ve read some of that but had not seen where anyone was talking about SLI actually producing anything.

You'd need to skip ahead to a page that hasn't happened yet (lol)

Basically, they expect to produce (sell) after

1. A decision is made on how much they have to pay mineral rights owners for their lithium

2. They make a Final Investment Decision (determine the exact breakdown of how they will fund the first project)

3. Construction

4. Profit (shooting for 2026)

To public knowledge, Albemarle is no closer than this to producing lithium in Arkansas. Join the fun if you want to strengthen your patience muscle

SLI is a fake company only interested in gaining more bag holders.

They are extracting it but reinjecting. Continuing to gain data points and tweak the processes. They are the only ones I'm aware of that have made it this far. Yes, they are extracting lithium. No, they are not producing any for sale. That will hopefully be Q1 2026. It was initially 2024 but COVID and insane construction costs delayed things two years. You can tour the plant and observe the process.

Price of lithium hydroxide is pretty terrible. Add that to a relatively crappy process and not producing til 2026 really puts them behind a good chunk of folks that'll be producing lithium hydroxide in 2024.

Every time I think about buying a lithium stock, I tell myself every EV maker in the world is researching an alternative battery technology to lithium. One will hit one day and lithium stocks will crash. Then I don’t buy any.

How does their process compare to others? What makes it crappy?

I am also in on them, currently regretting not getting out when I doubled my money. It’s another reason I figured this would be a good pace to ask if albermarle is actually producing.
