My money is on Amedysis. They have been getting looked at for months for possible fraudulent billings. If I remember correctly, it was them and LHC. It would also be a lot easier to get away with for a period of time in their industry than in centurytels IMO.

I thought Canes was technically a Texas company.

Still HQ'd in BR...with about 5 people there.

Everything else is in DFW.

No reason it can't be a private company. eta: not to mention this is totally dependent on a secret service agent's opinion of a "top Louisiana company."

I would be suprised if it was considering most private companies these days are usually LLC's, which are not taxed at the corporate level.

Why does a secret service agent know anything about Louisiana corporations pending tax evasion announcements?

From the Secret Services website - thier mission statement is kind of broad and covers "...nation's financial infrstructure and payment systems to preserve the integrity of the economy...[quote]

MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the United States Secret Service is to safeguard the nation's financial infrastructure and payment systems to preserve the integrity of the economy, and to protect national leaders, visiting heads of state and government, designated sites and National Special Security Events.

Just for clarification. If I was to trade based on something I learned in this thread is that illegal? Would this be considered a public forum?

No, but if this info has made it's way to TD shouldn't the impending news be already reflected in current prices?

I don't really blame him, he had 3 or 4 senior management positions that he couldn't fill in BTR.

Companies are always relocating people to fill positions throughout the country.

Moving a few people in from out of state would have been cheaper than moving the HQ to Dallas.

They were open for 18+ months. They couldn't get talent in.

I'm not saying it is Amedysis, but they were the first company I thought of when I saw the title.

Here's to hoping..

FWIW, the Secret Service is also responsible for counterfeiting so maybe they also deal in some way with evasion

It is a lot more difficult than you would imagine to get people qualified for upper level management to move to louisiana. I did some recruiting years back, and had many people say no thanks as soon as they learned the position was in LA. National coverage of Katrina did not help the situation, many non-natives think the whole state is the same as New Orleans. These were jobs with salary and potential bonus that would exceed 200K.

Amedysis is being investigated by the Senate Finance Committe. I read an article about why these Home Healths Agencies were specifically being targeted and it's because of the 15-20% profit margins these companies always hit. The reason I don't think it's LHC is because the company is more decentralized than Amedysis. The reason it's important is because the corporation has made it an emphasis to become heavily centralized meaning it gives the impression they knew the exact number of times needed to visit a patient to capitalize on certain government reinburstments and the same goes for the physical theropy visits.

I am not saying all the other home healths are not doing it but Amedeysis has spent lots of money on infrastructure in their IT department where it rumored they use special algorithms to maximize and maintain their competitive advantage. Since the news dropped on the Senate investigation the stock has been cut in half and the have been missing on earning where before it was very rare to see, LHCG and Gentiva might take Off if the culprit the OP is intact AMED?
