This may not be the place to ask but does anyone know where I can find some home designs by A. Hays Town? I've seen a house in Shreveport that I love but I don't want to bother the people that live there too much by asking them for blue prints and such. Anyway the house was basically a copy of a A. Hays Town design. I'll try to post the pictures. Any help is greatly appreciated.

A. Hays Town

Architect

A. Hays Town has been called the Premier Architect of the South. His works stretch from commercial to residential. He has been featured in Time, Southern Living, Southern Accents, Veranda, and many more periodicals. His works can be seen throughout the United States, Mexico, and the Islands. Town's works, styles, and finishes have been copied throughout the South. Mr. Town has not liscened his name to any person or corporation other than this site. One of his books is a coffee table book for about $30 and the other has 120 of his designs but it cost $2000. I was wondering if there were any other places to look.

Just go to the library and checkout his books. I love A. Hays Town designed houses also. He uses a lot of reclaimed wood and brick in his homes.

I already have that one. The one I would really like to see is The Architectural Style of A. Hays Town, but unfortunately it runs around $2000.

So are 90% of the houses in every subdivision built along Highland Road in the past 40 or so years, including CCLA.

For better or worse, the dude pretty much dictated the "look" of upper middle class residential BR for this era.

I think it was for the better. LA truly has unique homes due to the popularity of the "French-acadian" style. When I was interviewing for jobs I went to Tyler Tx. What I call the Texas "rock" style was everywhere and the classiest custom ones looked like spec houses compared to a custom built A. Hays Town designed home. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

its also a material issue in texas..The texas rock you speak of is very abundent in texas so it makes it easy to build houses out of it..

It's at the corner of Gilbert and Querbes. I don't think it's a new home.
