Anyone else having issues with getting their returns back from last year? I’ve read a lot of people are having issues and getting the run around. Although minuscule and unsurprising, it’s been four full months since I submitted my return.

I grew enough patience to make one phone call to the IRS but all that did was add gasoline to an already well lit fire. I had to go into the IRS and confirm my identity about one month after filing .. and crickets.

Anyone have any suggestions? I’ve read of people contacting their representatives for help.

If it shows it's been submitted, just wait. They'll get to you when they get to you.

I didn't have returns this year due to some land being sold. On that, the feds took their money almost immediately. The State of LA, however, took a couple of months to take theirs.

if you read online seems they are keeping longer to earn interest on our money by holding it an extra month or 2 lots of cases out there now

I like how I've got 4 downvotes, but nobody has offered any solution for him to get it faster.

I dealt with it last year and multiple phone calls just led to me having to keep waiting until it came in. You can call and waste your time if you want, or just wait. It's not going to make anything happen faster.

My 2023 return was normal, about a month. Now my 2022, still haven't received that. Created a login with IRS and it still shows submitted. Just going to wait out the Feds.

Why would the IRS send your tax return back to you? Didn't you keep a copy of it?

I gave the benefit of doubt and took it as "refund".

Didn't get a refund more than 10 weeks after filing our 2023 return so we checked the IRS where's my refund? page and found that they'd mailed it six weeks earlier.

Now we're waiting on a reply to our Form 3911 declaration that the check was not received.

I've resisted electronic refunds in the past because I want a paper trail for every transaction - but given the USPS' spike in lost mail I guess it's time to switch.

LINK taxpayer advocate

Might try this. Before I joined this site I was lurking and a CPA suggested this for someone with a similar problem.
My mom dies in the fall of 2021. My brother did her taxes and in the spring of 2023 we still didn't have her 2020 or 2021 refund. The two totaled about $3300 and the website just showed "processing".
My brother faxed a request and a month later got a phone call. Said the lady was polite and professional and said she'd start the process and call back in a month. We got 1 refund about 10days later and the other one a few days before the 30 days was up.
Hope this helps.
