Thanks, Jerry.

With a small sample of responses I don’t see an obvious consensus yet.

Maybe there will be more replies tomorrow. This isn’t like jumping off a cliff. We can always change the frequency of updates as the year goes on.

I’m thinking maybe starting off posting a weekly update, perhaps every weekend meaning as of close of trading every Friday.

In addition, I could try to post an update anytime there is a big up or down day, like the one we had today.

Thanks again for the replies and I invite anyone else to please put your two cents in.

I think most would be glad to see a weekly update. If they don’t want to see it then I’d tell them not to click the thread link.

I think we all understand you’re doing this out of your free time so make it work for you.

I’d like to see an end of week update for sure, or every other week.
More would be cool but that probably takes up time. Maybe if we had a particularly volatile day occasionally.

I’m in the top half at the momemnt so frequent posts are good. Later as I regress to the bottom I’d prefer you post very little and possible delete the thread all together. TIA

Performance results as of close of trading 1/3/19 after the DowJones Index was down 660 points (-2.91%) and the S&P 500 Index closed down 62 points (-2.54%).

For theOG, STNE is still not being updated by MorningStar.com. I manually calculated its YTD performance. (Edit: I just deleted STNE from the MorningStar watch list and then added it back as a new holding and surprise! STNE's YTD performance is now being tracked by MorningStar. YAY! And even better, MorningStar came up with the same YTD % as I did with my manual calculation, +.65%. YAY, again!)

Just like LSU, the first playoff rankings come out and I drop one to fall out of the top 10.

Top 10 for first time. When CELG sale goes thru I will be near bottom most likely.

Sorry about that. I wish there was an easy way to incorporate completed mergers and acquisitions into our rankings.

In 2018 there were 2 or 3 mergers and it was obvious MorningStar didn't include any buyout premium into their YTD performance calculation.

All they did was eliminate the company that got bought from our watch list and I then had to add the surviving company's symbol if it wasn't already one of our existing stocks on the watch list.

If anyone can come up with an automated way of doing it, I'm open to suggestions.

I'm pretty sure I can post updated rankings weekly without any problems unless I'm traveling and away from my computer.

I timed myself this morning and from the time I sat down at my computer and clicked on MorningStar until the time I posted the updated rankings it only took 16 minutes.

So, time wise it's not a big deal to update the rankings.

We learned from our 2018 contest that as the year progresses the rankings don't change very much on a daily basis. Right now the rankings are volatile just because the market is volatile and there's such a short YTD history.

I put JD which corresponds with JD.com instead of DE for John Deere.
