I did this (two years ago). I studied for 3 weeks for BEC just to see if I could pass and impress my employer before my evaluation. It worked. Just take a shot at it, if it doesn't work out just take it the next window.

Thanks, good luck to you too. That's a hell of a November

This worked for me too. Studied for like 2 weeks and passed easily.

My little brother self-studied and passed all 4 exams in the past year (he couldn't afford courses or good study materials).
I blew it off like it was a non-accomplishment, but reading this thread makes me want to give him a high 5!

I'm waiting for the stupid scores. Cranking out multiple choices like woah, I'm hitting 120 or so a night. It's like another full time job with the videos.

I'm right there with you. I should wrap up the AUD course materials this weekend. Looking forward to just reviewing everything before my exam next Thursday.

Good luck! I'm so tired of REG at this point, I just want to get it over with.

Doing that made him realize he wanted to be a CPA so studied and took the tests. One month later an accounting firm that was doing some auditing of the state agency he is in, and they were impressed with him and made him an offer.
That's impressive
Cool story bro, I know. But I'm proud of him. He also lost 100 pounds in the past 12 months without surgery or gimmicky diet.

You should be proud of him. It's incredibly difficult to study for, especially when you have a full-time job. That's what I keep running into, I want to be a CPA but it's hard to stay motivated when everyone and their mother is pumping you up at your current place.

Finally passed FAR on the second time with an 83. Retaking AUD (72) on Friday and BEC (73,74) on the 19. Worked in public accounting for 2 years, but not working at the moment so no excuses.
Good luck to you bros working and trying to pass this, especially if your not a 4.0 student like me.

Any study tips, insights?

Study. The tests are far less dependent on raw intelligence than they are about are your ability & willingness to devote a sufficient # of hours to studying.

I would agree with this. It's definitely one of those times where you have to put in the hours studying.

How did you go about studying for it? I usually read the chapter, do the questions (2-3 times) and then watch video w/ flash cards in my free time.

I stopped watching videos. I will only watch if it is a section I am unclear about. I use Becker and IMO many explanations to the questions are total BS. So I copy and paste the questions I don't understand into Google and they have people that answer the questions in a much clearer and detailed fashion on forums than they do on Becker.
I recommend taking your own notes and writing down all of the answers and explanations to every MC question you miss. Then go back and highlight your notes on things you are unclear about. Identify your weaknesses.
This is the process I began using after multiple failures, and I have seen an increase in my scores.

I get through the lectures as quickly as possible, and then afterwards I'm hitting the MC hard. I'll do the cumulative tests over and over and just work on what I forget/miss. My goal is by test time to be doing the 72 or 90 questions with a 90-95% correct rate.

Becker video lecture, reread lecture in book, MC, sims, & proceed to next lecture. I then reread lectures in the 2 days before test.

Good advice
How long do y'all review after finishing the materials for a part? Couple days, a week, more?

I typically take a day for each chapter, then two days for the practice exams I take, and then a day before the exam to relax, get a good night sleep, etc.
Side note, 94 for FAR, two down!
