He said this big a jump was unusual but did not rule out additional increases of this much saying they will go based on what data they see between now and then.

I assume because what they did aligned with the market's expectations. The market doesn't like uncertainty or surprises.

unfortunately, or more accurately I should say predictably, this is a big part of what is happening in crypto --- the MOST leveraged asset by volume in markets
