I'm not so sure about everyone else, but i surely expected Zach to be more impressive after 7 games under his belt before this season begun. To give him some credit, he has thrown some good balls that have been dropped numerous times. But he has also thrown several balls that have been quite dangerous, including redzone picks. After 7 games, he has thrown for 1,322 yards with only 6 TDs and 4 picks. To me, this tells me that the coaches are afraid to let him loose. Yes i know, the play calling really hasn't helped him statistically, and neither has the thousand drops. After watching the NT game, i thought the coaches were just trying to break him in with the short slants and screens; but after 7 games, it seems like this is the offense that we are going to see for the rest of the year. I hope I am wrong. Don't get me wrong, I love this team, and i seriously think Mett can be one of the best QBs we've ever had.. But I thought that he could have been an upgrade from JL/JJ by now. At this point of last year year, Lee had 1,279 yards with 13 Td's and only 1 pick. Last year, they also threw the ball down field at least 4-5 times a game.

What i just can't get through my head is why aren't the coaches using him more of a deep ball threat if they praised him all off season long of having an unbelievable arm? I know the O-line is beat up, but as we saw last week vs. SC, the line gave him plenty of time to throw, yet we still throw quick slants and screens for little gain(Besides the ware and hill YAC)! Mett does stare down his receivers, and i thought that krag would've helped him with that by now in his career. All i am saying is, i don't think our coaches are giving him enough credit. He has only thrown the ball downfield after 7 games 8 times. A play action fade down the side line would work wonders after running the ball 5-6 times in a row.

All in all, i personally expect and predict Mett having a lot better second half of the season, despite playing better teams and defenses. Here's to Mett having a great second half, and leading the Tigers to their 3rd national title of the decade!

No deep threat. It's hard to go vertical if you are playing with a bunch of slot/possesion receivers(particularly if they are having issues with drops). That's why Patterson would've been a huge get in the offseason and losing Randle hurt so bad.

Honestly I don't even care

What happens from this point forward is how he will be judged

We've had a lot of problems on offense and they're not all the QB

patience. college fb can't/doesn't revolve around qbs like the pros.

except for cam, the last 6 have been all around teams, like uf, al, and lsu.

not up for argument, just imho.

I don't what crawled up your vagina tonight, but whatever it was sure isn't helping your comprehension. I wasn't being sarcastic. He isn't an NFL caliber QB "yet". He will be after 1 more year imo.

Your post has some good merits and points. The point about the deep ball is well documented. Maybe Shep can step up and be a deep threat b/c no one else has proven to be able to get behind the defense. I think Landry and ODBJr are quality receivers along w Boone and Wright but I don't know if they possess the break away speed needed to get behind the defense.

On another point the offensive line has been inept at pass protection for most of the season and this is another reason for the quick passes and minimal down the field throws.

However, if the offensive line plays like they did last Sat. then you may see the coaching staff open up the play calling and deeper pass plays. Time will tell. So far - below average.

In closing, I will say that Mett has a big time arm and plays very well under pressure - when it counts. He'll need to continue doing this the rest of the way starting with ATM on Sat.

Just like 2011 it's time.... Starting to get back that "going to the ship" feeling again. One at a time. NEXT! Geaux Tigers!

i honestly thought after listening to the media and krag praise jefferson after a great preseason and summer, that he would be a lot better.. And he was.. until georgia.
