i have never nor will i ever be a fan of Les Miles. my ire for him began back in 2005 when he allowed a beaten Tennesse team back in the game by playing this conservative type of Offense, now which has become a staple of Miles lead teams. they have no "finishing component" to there team, as attested by games last year vs. Arkansas and this year vs MSU, ULL, and Vandy.

i'm tired of this run, run pass sequence that always leaves his QB at a disadvantage, when trying to convert on 3rd downs. the lack of a downfield passing game when you have 2 of the best WR in the confrence is down right perplexing. i understand the lack of blocking by the Oline, but you cannot tell me we can't try to attack down the field more than 3-4 times a game. the Offense is severly taxing a Defense which has played very well since the Washington game. i see LSU as a 5 loss team once again this year.

We do not disagree.

But then I'm a very defensive-minded lady and if it were left to me I'd probably never hire anything but a defensive-minded HC in the first place (yep, I know there have been, and always will be exceptions, but, damn!, who doesn't just love a shut down D?). But it is what it is for the time being and just as the problems on the defensive side of the ball began to improve with the off-season restructuring and Chavis, there's little to do for the foreseeable future but hope for the same on the offensive side of the ball if things don't improve.

Again, what you said.

I talked to the guy for 5 minutes yesterday. None of you would say any of this face to face.

Say no more. Perhaps someone will say the same of you and you'll agree, okay? Maybe your boss on a job sometime down the road! Touche!

Mister Coach Miles, do you think that any other program in the country who was fortunate enough to have signed Mister Russell Shepard would leave him on the bench for an entire game? Do you think any other program would NOT have him as an intricate part of the offensive game plan? Do you think Saban or Meyer would let a talent like that gather dust on the bench while witnessing the worst offensive output in the history of LSU football?

Mister Coach Miles, get your head out of your arse boy.

All I would say:

Your offense is ranked 109th, fire the Offensive Coordinator NOW.

1. If what you are doing on offense is not working - do something different.

2. If the players you are playing of offense are not getting the job done - play someone different.

Have a nice day,

I would say all of it to his face. And I'll tell you why I would. Because he is driving this team into mediocrity. There are two differences b/w Miles and Archer is that Miles is a better recruiter and the talent of Miles' team covered up his short falls until last year. This year is even worse.

I would ... precisely because I believe CLM would be the first to admit (not that he ever could publicly, at least not unless he'd be looking back on a long and storied tenure as LSU's HC), that what's involved in coaching in the SEC took him aback at the outset and he's had to grow and adjust and make adjustments, much as he discretely started to do even before the end of last season when he quietly prepared to revamp things on the defensive side of the ball and did so after the season.

That doesn't mean he isn't still growing into what I hope will ultimately prove to be one of the finest, longest tenured HCs LSU has ever had grace Tigah stadium.

I think maybe Crowton hasn't to this point made the adjustment to SEC FB that an LSU OC needs to make. I think if his offense ends the season with as little output as it has to this point, he may not see the start of another season as LSU's OC.

I think that because of the way CLM handled his defensive woes at season's end '08. Gives me every reason to believe Miles will do the same on his favorite side of the ball if things don't show marked improvement, youthfulness at QB and new starters on the O line taken into account, by season's end.

So, yep, if CLM would ever grace me with a 1-on-1, I'd love to have the opportunity to discuss these things with him ... with the understanding that he's the ball coach and my expertise lies in another profession, of course.

But I do get your overall meaning, methinks.

...and then try to get a big-time OC to even show up for a teleconference, let alone an in person interview for LSU's OC opening.

Not much on specifics are you? Generalities probably aren't what's called for heading into the teeth of the SEC schedule.

I'm frustrated as well...but if our QB cannot look past one receiver, then NOTHING Miles could do will fix this short of taking JJ out......

We had guys OPEN all night..and there were times we threw on first and 2nd down.......and JJ cannot find the open receivers.......

Ummmm, I'd clean the shite off my own head first, if I were you (which I'm thankful I'm not). Miss that delay of game penalty and those two time outs a confused RS burned on three of his six plays 'twixt the hedges, did you?

Neither the Power formations or the Spread formations are the reasons for our lack of consistency. It is the bastardization of each that create a difficult environment for a young QB and inexperienced OLine to run with any degree of success.

We are leaving out important parts to the Power game:
1) play-action passing to the TE
2) Draws
3) Screens to RBs and TE
4) Deep sideline fades to our tall WR's

We are leaving out important parts to the Spread game:

1) more dynamic running QB
2) more dynamic throwing QB

Problem?? We only have (at most) one QB that can do one of the above well - Shep can run, not a great passer - JJ can run and pass with mediocrity, but not great - JLee can pass, but cannot run.

My 2 cents - go back to the I formation, use your TE and WR's in the above mentioned fashion, and get your Oline to focus on good run blocking and pass-block protection for at least 2.5-3.0 seconds. If JJ cannot do that, then find another QB to do it. But, whatever you do, get out of this "bastardized" power-spread attack. It ain't working!
