This is a very true statement. An LSU victory over A&M doesn't do much for LSU in the media, but a loss would be a dead horse story until they play Oregon.

And? Let the media say all of the dumb shite that they want to say and let our records speak for themselves.

Would you rather LSU go into next season ranked top 5 or barely top 15? Furthermore, negative media is better then no media but for once it would be nice for them to talk good about the university.

I would rather have a higher ranking and be able to get more revenue in the long run by having more games at night(7:00pm prime-time) then those damn 2:30 games.

~Edit: Would you rather lose to aTm or to MS/OSU?

With our team, there is a good chance we would lose to either, so I would much rather lose to MSU, and not necessarily because they are ranked higher. Recruiting, only game on TV, and the fact that A&M could be ranked higher than MSU to start the season next year.

A single game against A&M or Michigan State will not determine that. The QB, new OC, etc. have a bigger impact. Besides, LSU opens with Oregon next year. No need for high pre-season rankings.

Nobody ever disses the university, just the quirky football coach and the close wins/losses. A win will generate positive attention not matter the opponent.

Revenue is locked in no matter the start time. Good teams (higher pre-season rankings) almost guarantee day games. Flawed logic.

Neither. LSU beats both.
eta: Ohio State is a lock for BCS bowl.

You mean, LSU can beat both and should beat both.

I can't understand why anyone would be "down" on a potential matchup with A&M.

For you folks who have never experienced an LSU/A&M game... take my word for it: it is FUN!!

There's historical friction between the two, we're in neighboring states, and the two universities are probably more similar to each other than any other school.

The Aggies are weird and relentless, too... they are AWESOME opponents.

This matchup will be EPIC, and a GREAT and exciting way to end the season. I am totally looking forward to the Cotton Bowl, if it comes through.

I realize that some of you out there in Tigerdroppingsland haven't had the joy of beating A&M yet. Just take my word for it... there's few things in football more fun than beating A&M. You'll see.

Well said! And for those of you who've never been to an LSU/A & M game, the Aggies are just frickin' weird, but their band is awesome and puts on a great half-time show.

Whaaaaaaaaat?

Watch all the rickety old LSU fans come out of the woodwork for this one. There is real hatred for A&M in our fan base. Many of you just don't know it yet.

And if you don't hate them yet... you should. And you will by the time Jan. 7 has passed.

So you think a loss to MSU versus a loss to A&M will somehow be the difference between a top 5 and a top 15 ranking next year? Really? I think you greatly overestimate the luster that Michigan State brings to the table.

We are the only team that could play a high school team close and then beat the #1 team in the country a week later.

The latter. I'd rather fly in under the radar as opposed to having a bull's eye on my back. Look where Bama's pre-season No. 1 got them. Remember Ole Miss' No. 4 pre-season ranking in '09? Did them a lot of good, didn't it!

And a loss to a Big 10 team like Mich St would just be forgotten? Face it, any loss in a bowl game will be a "dead horse story" until the Oregon game next year.

I for one would love to see a matchup with A&M. I don't like A&M or their fans. For me it goes back to some of the recruiting battles in the 80's for players like Johnny Hector, Bucky Richardson and Billy Cannon, Jr (none of which signed with LSU).

Wasn't meaning it that way. Everyone says "OH it's so great to beat aTm!!!!" Well what the hell would they do if we lost?

An I'm getting off this thread, because it seems that most of you would rather play a rival(who we haven't played in 15yrs) in a new shinny stadium over a conference champion. Props to OP for actually being sensible.

I would be saying something else if we were playing Wisconsin or Ohio State, but MSU isn't the same.

I would really like to beat Wisconsin's arse, I hate those bastards.
