Assuming LSU wins, either bowl would be great for the LSU program.

Risking a loss, which is always the case no matter who we play from #1 to dead last teams, it would be better to go to Cap 1.

A&M wants to play us in Cotton Bowl because a win over LSU is better for recruiting than a win over Alabama.

But if you were there,
then it should be in you
to want to beat the F... out of A&M.

What team shows up for us
that can get revenge for 91-95?

A&M bitches for us owing them $400,000.
Ags QB can run, will our team show up and play them like it's Bama. Who the hell knows?

A&M missed out on this decade of arse whippin we would have gave them.

It would be, nobody can deny that. Auburn, historically, has played second fiddle to Alabama, but even on their down years we can't ever blow them off.

(This is not a statistical comparison of Auburn and A&M, just an example of schools that aren't historically controlling the state)

I'm with you there, but since we haven't played them in a while they are really off LSU fans' radar, especially with okie/okie st/texas playing well recently.

I don't worry about Golf and the swim team.

Three Major Sports
Football-Mediocre. Has not finished in top 5 since 1956. That is embarrassing.
Basketball-Mediocre. ATM 11 appearances Texas 20
Baseball- 4 CWS appearances and 0 national championships. Texas-33 with 6

So like I said before, they will remain Texas' little brother. If you don't like those stats, look quickly back a few months ago and how Texas controlled all of the negotiations with the Big 12.

Well, that's important in a discussion regarding football.

Do you have a link backing this up? or do you have no stats betwen 1956 and 2003?

I know, and I didn't mean to belittle what aTm is capable of now, it's just that everyone, including fans, look at what has happened lately.

That's the perception. Texas is probably still considered dominant even though they had a laughable season.

Splitting with UT would have caused huge disruptions in the TX Legislature and could have risked future funding.

LSU is elite in baseball and football.

ATM is elite in nothing and that will always be the case. They're the little runt that gets all riled up when they beat the good teams while they're down.

I'm 21, so I'm haven't been around for the aTm games. However, you have to be joking. You would rather play aTm because at one point they were a rival then play a Co-Champion of the Big 10? Hell..you must also like to play Tulane over WVU.

I could not careless about the rivalary we had at one point with them. What I am concerned about is who the better game is for LSU in the public media. What does #10 LSU get out of beating #18 aTm? Just a little bragging rights, but not much more. Defeating any of the co-champions gives us a little more to brag about.

I am glad that we can agree on our disdain for playing TAMU.

At least we have that.

Epic games.

Cotton Bowl v. Cap One aside, I just don't see where a game against Mich. St. is somehow more prestigious or advantageous in any sense.

How about recruiting in Texas?

If A&M plays Alabama and beats them, it will give them a huge jump in recruiting in Texas. They may not reach the same level as LSU in Texas recruiting, but any A&M gain in this area hurts LSU.

It gives LSU even more visibility in Houston and east Texas. Houston is already a huge recruiting base for LSU but A&M and UT are even stronger there. It's a natural rivalry as well. Though of the Big10 co-champs, Wisky and tOSU excite me the most. MSU.......meh.

This discussion is about Football, but he brought up the whole Athletic program.

And for the record, I wouldn't call our Basketball program mediocre. We are one of TWO teams to win at least one game in the NCAA tourney the past 6 years running.

Football is the 20th winningest program of all time. I believe LSU is in the 11-13 range.

Recruiting is a valid point. A very good one and true.

It's just hard to stomach playing the Aggies. It is an unattractive matchup from a fan's view.

I wanted to play Neb or Ok
