Yes I know it worked out (S/O Joe Foucha), and I know CBK made recent comments about replay negatively affecting the game but I mean..
D gets a pretty clear stop on our own end of the field when your opponent is driving for the lead in the 2nd half and we just watch the ref negate it with a terrible judgment??
I would think it’s gotta be worth burning your first timeout in that situation to at least get in their ear about it, especially with the way they were over officiating the game.

When the play happened live, I thought for sure he was short. When they showed the replay a couple of times, it was closer than I originally thought. Maybe staff thought it was too close to burn a TO on since it was right in front of them. I dunno.

The problem with the call was they called 1st down on the field. I didn’t see anything that could definitively show that he didn’t make it in those camera shots.

The main camera angle was not down the line. I don't know if they would have had a good enough shot to reverse the call.

I do think he was short.

Happened right in front of our bench.
Maybe we knew he had made it?

Yeah, coaches were either in shock or asleep not challenging that one. It was totally strange that no one went nuts and the refs just casually acted like he got it by 3 yards when he was short.

I did. So did the announcers. He seemed to be clearly short.

Can you objectively say there was enough evidence to overturn the spot? Probably not, so Kelly would’ve wasted a timeout and a challenge and y’all would be belly aching about that.

I thought so, too, but I also believe Thomas caught that ball vs Florida.

The ref that Automatically ruled 1st down was in zero position to make that call

Did you see the calls they overturned last week when we played Florida? We had more evidence than that. Both announcers said it was short after viewing the various angles. It was worth challenging because it could have been a gigantic play in the game. Timeout be damned.

Was at the game. I don't think I have ever seen that mny bad spots for both teams in a single game. They were consistently off by a yard in either direction.

Yeah, I agree there. It just seems kind of random how they reverse calls, so I think it was worth challenging.

Go watch it again, line to gain was the plus side of the 35 yard line, he had the ball in his left arm and his left elbow hits pretty clearly before he reaches the 35 (his OL #71 made the stop tbh).
I try to watch as objectively as possible but I really feel like we get that call with a review.. could be wrong though!

Remember when referees would bring the chains on the field to measure close first downs?

Sounds like you should be next in line for a power five head coach vacancy
