LSU is giving fans the opportunity to literally grab a piece of history from the Tigers’ 12-0 season on Dec. 2.

The LSU Athletic Department will have free slabs of sod from Tiger Stadium available to fans as contractors begin removing sod for upcoming field renovations.

The sod will be giving out to fans on a first-come, first-serve basis from 4-6 p.m. on Dec. 2 at the Bullpen lot at Alex Box stadium.

I'll be getting some of the Purple and the Gold.

I’m thinking about taking off tomorrow after lunch and heading over. Wonder what the rush will be like.

I need to sod the yard. How legit would it be to have tiger stadium grass for a yard?

Fans are asked to take no more than four slabs per person. The slabs measure about 18?x24?.

What do you do with this? I am thinking about getting a couple on my way home from work if it isn’t too much of a cluster. Just not sure what to do with it? I don’t have anywhere in my yard that needs any grass.

I have no fricking clue.

Stand in line for free sod that'll be dead in a week.

One of the current or former LSU grass guys lives on Bayou Paul Lane in St. Gabriel. His yard is all LSU turf. Quite impressive.
