It was hot day game (Screw you CBS). When I walked down the concourse in the 2nd quarter to get a coke it was packed as people were trying to get a reprieve from the heat and cool off in the shade. Couldn't believe the number of people sitting there!

It looked pretty solid to me

This, the crowd was great, considering.

The ESPN writer obviously looked at the telecast at half where half the stadium was empty.

I thought they were gone too, but they all came back in. They must have been trying to not die of heat stroke and getting in the shade for 20 minutes.

Corporations have bought up tons of tickets and bring clients and employees (many are not even LSU fans) to these games. They get bored or find that the stadium experience is less comfortable than watching at a tailgate or home and leave
Yet any fan from any background can be given a ticket right at kick off.

This corporations shite is so overplayed.

Some people don't want to shell out 250+ dollars to see a team that has been blownout by Moo State and embarrassed by Troy. Doesn't mean folks aren't pulling like hell for LSU to win.

Would have looked a lot worse had it not been the Gold Game. Hard to tell on so many wide shots to tell if there were simply empty gold seats or fans wearing gold.

Yes it may have been sparse but we were freaking loud!!!!!!!!

I've actually been amazed and impressed with how loud the stadium can get, when needed or warranted late in the game when its mostly empty

This. The poor souls on the east side were like ants under a magnifying glass.

I always love the "fandom lessons" that non-ticket holders love to harp on.

If you weren't at the game, then shut the frick up.

If you were, well then.. meh. Also shut the frick up.

Local media had field day all sending out the same pic from the press box looking to east sideline and commenting about the crowd size. They loved pushing the narrative that people weren't at the game and ignored the heat issue and that the west side was a different story.

I know this topic has been discussed ad nauseam, but I read this on ESPN's recap of the game, and thought it was worth sharing. It's really kind of embarrassing that the small size of the crowd was considered worthy of mention

A woman in front of me was turned away at the gates because her wallet was too big. She had it in one of the new clear plain purses.

With Alleva making it extremely difficult and expensive to enjoy home games, scheduling neutral site matchups, and hiring a lackluster coach, I'm glad people are noticing the apathy LSU fans have. That's the only way things will change.

If you were there it really was understandable since Aubie fans bailed in the third and it was 100 degrees
On the East side. I thought the croud was decent size considering. 70k at least.

There did appear to be more fans in the stadium after the punt return than any other time in the game. So maybe many were in the concourse to stay out of the heat.

It was ungodly hot in the east side. Tons of people were in the concourse and would come back out for a while until the sun got them. I had a very nice couple from Auburn behind me and (between complaints of Malzahn) he asked me where the fans were? We discussed crowd size and the size of Tiger Stadium as 102000 and he pointed out Auburn Stadium holds 84000 and would have been packed with our crowd but it looked smaller given the size of Tiger Stadium. It’s all perspective.

Tiger Stadium's reputation for volume and rowdy fans goes back to the 1950s and 1960s when enclosing the south end zone brought capacity up to 67,000. That's all it took to make it everything that's been said about it over the years.
