LSU has exactly 1,415 Passing yards and 1,415 rushing yards through 7 games. When O said we were gonna get a 50/50 offense, he wasn't lying.

Yardage is a goofy way to measure a balanced offense.

ETA - We averaged 207 yds/game rushing and 203 yds/game passing last year. Were we balanced?

As is the play-type split considering you run a ton when you're winning late.

Lot of truth to that too. I consider a balanced offense one that runs the ball and throws the ball well/efficiently.

neither is a good way to measure a balanced offense. A good way would be looking at 1st down run pass ratio. The best way is throw stats out the window and just use your eyes. This is a balanced offense. But if anyone knows the 1st down run/pass ratio or how to look it up I would be interested

That's not necessarily balanced...that's just a good offense.

If you run/pass on first down but you don't do one or the other well, it doesn't make you balanced.

FWIW, I wasn't really trying to shite on the OP. I think the coincidence is pretty cool.

Well yeah, it isn't easy to have a balanced offense. Most teams are markedly better at one or the other.

A balanced offense would be running it and throwing it the same amount of times, 50/50, which keeps the defense guessing. The passing yardage should be more in a balanced offense but not always. LSU ran it 50 times and passed it 30, but they were playing with a big lead for a lot of the game.
