That's not the way the NCAA works. They don't have subponea powers nor can they force people to cooperate. They don't have to "prove" anything. They're perfectly content depending on hearsay, innuendo and circumstantial evidence.

Fine. If they single us out, have Wade start doing tell-all interviews with any reporter who wants them.

They can’t single us out because they know the whole system will come crashing down. Wade should do what everyone else has done when their name comes up and that is deny deny deny. If there’s no way they can prove he provided payments and benefits, they can’t touch him. There are a lot of loopholes in this argument working for his benefit. And frick Forde wolken, and Wetzel

I know a high school coach who has told me that if Wade pleads the fifth then LSU has no choice but to cut ties.

And that’s part of the reason he’s a high school coach.

he good thing about this is he won’t have to play any road games moving forward, so no harassing students to get after him.

Very good point.

FWIW Alleva has told Wade he needs to lay low and just focus on the team/stay away from any drama. This comes from one of the local LSU reporters.

It stands for the time the FBI was wire tapping Dale Brown for his conversations with Sabonis in Russia!

Again, the UofL case is the perfect example. There wasn't a single shred of direct evidence proving money exchanged hands between a UofL staff member and the strippers. No paper trail, no nothing. There was actually court testimony and evidence (lack thereof) to the contrary.

The NCAA's core evidence was the biased testimony of recruits who were supposedly present and/or partook. I say biased because take Blakeney for example. The NCAA went to him and told him to play ball, tell them what they want to know, and they'd give him immunity. They dangled his eligibility over his head. That's coercion and it gave Blakeney every incentive to lie or to at least say whatever, trying to keep his eligibility and appease the NCAA.

Okay.

If anything happens to us, I want football players coming out and claiming Saban offered to back the armored car up to their homes, true or not.

The sharks are circling and smell blood in the water.

USAToday- LSU should not be allowed in March Madness

Guilty until proven innocent!

ETA: BigEdLSU, do you understand NOW why I said yesterday that I’m a “little nervous” about the Will Wade wiretapping stuff. I wasn’t “shitting on basketball” and it has NOTHING to do with race. Dumbass.

This doesn't look good, but absent clear evidence of a money trail, nothing is going to stick to Wade or LSU.

You don't need a money trail, you don't even need to actually commit a crime to be charged under federal conspiracy statutes. If what Wade and Dawkins discussed is actually illegal they engaged in conspiracy to commit a crime.

LINK

"A conspiracy occurs when two or more people agree to commit an illegal act and take some step toward its completion. Conspiracy is an inchoate crime because it does not require that the illegal act actually have been completed."

Elements of a Conspiracy

"Conspiracy first requires a showing that two or more people were in agreement to commit a crime. This agreement does not have to be formal or in writing. All that is required is that the parties had a mutual understanding to undertake an unlawful plan."

Who said he was? The prior poster said they had nothing on Wade since no money changed hand, I said it is not necessary for the crime of conspiracy.

Just came to say, if LSU makes a strong tourney run can you imagine how awesome of a 30 for 30 this season will make? Starting with the Sims shooting, all the nail-biters, investigations.. it will be a hell of a segment.

I'm afraid that Wade will be fired. LSU is a football school. Why attract attention from the NCAA? LSU can win in FB without cheating given the talent in the area and the facilities. Wade will be scarified to make sure FB is allowed to go on unhindered.

Report that came out about Sean Miller last year had a bunch of inconsistencies once it was dissected. Always more to the story. Don't need to do anything until the other shoe drops. Will see what Dawkins says and what comes out of Wade's testimony in April if he doesn't plead the fifth.

Nothing he said in that report is damning in court, plenty of room for reasonable doubt. NCAA gets to make up their own rules and interpretations of evidence as they go. Such hypocrites and so inconsistent with punishment and haven't done anything to show leniency to schools that make effort to comply or self-impose sanctions. Why jump on the sword in advance to try to save yourself a little pain? Don't make it easy on them.

You would be wrong, it was considered committing fraud against the university in the previous prosecutions of coaches. The coaches were paid salaries by the universities with the understanding that their sports program would be operated under applicable NCAA rules. Paying players exposed the university to NCAA violations, possible fines, and loss of the sports program, and associated revenue.
