Xavier Hill—he’s the one we should be talking about as long as we’re talking Jordy

I’ve listened to almost all of Jordy’s LSU talk this week. Granted, I’ve fast forwarded through some non-LSU stuff, so may have missed something, but I haven’t heard him mention Walker Howard 1 time this week. But the last 2 days, he’s talked a ton about Xavier Hill getting reps on the OL. Apparently there were a few players who were quietly suspended the 1st couple of games besides Emery. Emery was a different situation, though. It sounds more like what Baskerville was facing before his appeal was granted.

Regardless, they dropped the guys who looked like they were gonna miss the 1st 2 games on the depth chart and gave the guys who they knew we’re gonna play most of the reps to get them ready for the 1st 2 games. Apparently, Hill was one. And, according to Jordy—and you can put whatever stock into his insider info as you want—they really like Hill and think he’s one of their best 5 and plan on getting him significant PT this week, maybe even starting (I’m not sure I’d go that far). But he has talked about him a ton the last couple of days. I have no idea where they want to play him or who the odd man out would be or even how much he’ll play or how early.

But if you trust Jordy’s info at all—and he clearly has SOME insider info, you can tell that by the guests inside the program he gets—with how bad and unsettled as our OL has been and how much he’s been pumping Hill, THAT’s the much more interesting player to be talking about and watching for this weekend. Not Walker Howard.

He mentioned Walker Howard in the mailbag questions towards the end of his show yesterday.

I’m eager to see Xavier Hill and Emery Jones this Saturday if the starting line doesn’t hold up.

RT seems like the most likely spot.

I think they like Dellinger at LG next to Campbell. I don't think Hill can play C. Frazier hasn't been good at RT.

Seems like when he signed the talk was he'd be put at C. That was the previous staff's plan, anyway, but the OL coach was retained, so maybe that's still the plan.

I was wondering why we hadn't heard much about Hill even going back to the offseason.

I don't think Jordy is completely flying blind but you have to understand how emotional he is. It's not that he's lying, it's that he's exaggerating like 98% of the time and it leads to dumb lies

Frazier He was plenty good enough against Southern. I don't know where that like 18 grade from PFF comes from.

He's light years better than Wire and definitely one of our best 5 o-lineman. I think the snap/center issues are preventing us from actually putting our best 5 out there.

ETA: just re watched the southern game. Frazier only played about 7 series. He dominated in the run game, directly contributing to 2 touchdowns, and allowed at most 1 pressure - and that was nuss's deep completion to Nabors

at what spot?

LT - Campbell
LG - Jones
C - Dellinger
RG - Bradford
RT - Frazier

That seems to be the best 5 we can throw out there. Unfortunately I don't think they're going with Delly at center. Still, there's a reason they tried everyone but Turner at center before the season.

If Dellinger could figure out the center position, it would really make the o-line flow.

That would make a lot of sense. There was a lot of talk of Hill in the off season possibly starting at center. Was surprised that in camp he seem to fall off the face of the earth.

It seems they have already moved on from Dellinger at C.

I wasn't aware that he played C. If he can play C, that would be the most likely position to upgrade.

I like Jordy’s show because they talk LSU football 90% of the show during the season. I have no real opinion on him personally—seems like a good enough dude—and I certainly am not vouching for his insider info and it’s accuracy. But he has current players and coaches on his show, so he clearly has some relationships inside the program and hasn’t burned all his bridges. Now, I doubt Brad Davis called him to tell him about Hill and their plans for him. He could be getting this from Hill’s uncle or something.

But we’ve got a 9 page thread on our 3rd string QB who will not affect the outcome of any games coming up without some bad injury luck. And the ratio of how much he’s talked about Hill compared to Howard this week, and how much more quickly Hill could affect this team if, in fact, his info is even partially accurate, it seems odd that I am the 1st one to bring it up at 3 o’clock 2 days before the game when it could have a much bigger impact Saturday than the nonsense being discussed in that other thread.

I will absolutely concede that I have no idea if Jordy is even slightly correct about Hill. He may not play a single play Saturday. Hell, he might not even dress. I don’t know. But I do know that if we’re talking about Jordy’s insider info at all, this is much more relevant relative to Saturday than Walker Howard’s potential redshirt.

"Insiders on Jordy show expect big things from Hill and believe he'll see significant playing time."

There. Twenty-times fewer words with no change in meaning.

I know - just being hopeful really.

I don't have much faith in Turner at center, and it seems the coaches don't either.

In 2018, they wanted anyone but Cushenberry to win that spot. As soon as he did, he ran with it and never looked back. It doesn't seem that anyone has done that yet on this team.

Proof of how terrible O recruited at OL when we could have two TF starting most of the year.

Get ready bc our OL still had a lot of blown assignments against Southern. Fortunately they were not big or talented enough to make the tackles in the backfield. Different story with SEC DL and LBs.
Got to improve quickly
Also, if watched game closely. When EJ came in game he played RT the entire first series. Just saying
