Can someone extrapolate out the math. I have a headache
Assuming the same % of "Alabama" tickets are going to LSU fans as "Louisiana" tickets that are going to Bama fans, and that the tickets bought outside of those two states are are going to LSU and Bama fans in the same ratio as those bought by fans in those states, then...
31/(31+25) = 56% are going to LSU fans. This 56/44 ratio will move closer to even when you consider the even ticket allotment to the two schools, and it will become less even when you consider that a lot of tickets flow to the locals which will be mostly LSU fans. Plus a considerable % of each of these two groups of tickets will end up being sold online. I bet it ends up 60/40 LSU. Inside of a dome either team's fans will be loud. It'll be close to neutral.

Gumps fans mortgaging the double wides?

PLEASE READ ALL LSU FANS: Here's a post I made in another thread to combat the delusional Alabama posters who are saying it will be a 50/50 split...and this news is about what I expected from Stub Hub
Now obviously thanks to this thread its clear that Alabama fans wont get every single Stub Hub ticket, but even so the amount in secondary market is a very minor percent of all tickets so it doesnt matter
Try to comprehend how many tickets 18,000 easy, because they is how many Bama fans would have to buy in a secondary market (not inclduing Stub Hub) just to get to 50/50

Let me break this down in an easy way for Gumps to comprehend
Im going to start and just say it seats 76,000
To get a 50/50 crowd Alabama fans would need to get 38,000 tickets
You get 17,000 through your school
There are 1,900 on Stub Hub right now, so if you bought all of those tickets (which you wont, but I'm just giving it to you)
You can get another 1,000 out of the ticket reservation website
That puts you at 20,000...you would still need 18,000 tickets from other sources to get a 50/50 split (and this is assuming you get all the stub hub tickets, all of the team reservations bought were actually by Bama fans, and none of your fans sell your tickets for $$$ to an LSU fan)
It is not going to happen. I can see you getting to maybe 25,000 to 28,000 tickets but no where near 38,000...there just arent enought LSU fans and Sugar Bowl season ticket holders selling for that to happen
ETA: I understand there could easily be 50,000+ Bama fans in New Orleans that weekend, but they wont be in the game

And do you want a luxury suite? Better be prepared to shell out in the six figures per ticket.

well, when you consider a lot of tickets never hit the open market because they are going to (a) Sugar Bowl folks, (b) New Orleans locals, (c) LA state legislators, etc., then I think at least 60-40 is to be expected. Probably a little more than that.
This.. also I'm not sure if you all noticed for the last game on november 5th.. 100k bama fans didn't even make much noise.. 50k LSU fans in the dome is probably just as much noise as that.

"available tickets"
This report would give us a better picture of the LSU/Bama crowd split if they detailed how many tickets Stubhub has to sell. It does however indicate that LSU fans seem more eager to attend.
LSU will have an advantage with corporate tickets too.

The only way Bama could get more than 40% of the Dome is if they were to dominate the online ticket sales. That is not happening. 60-40 or better for da Tigers

Saw that after I posted. Great report and analysis!
I don't see why the Gumps think they could be more successful at obtaining 50% or greater when OSU and OU could not.

Our 50% fans will kick their 50%'s arse !!

The biggest influx of tickets haven't even hit the market yet. Just wait till LSU fans and Bama fans get the school allotted tickets. Tickets will be all over these resell sites.

which means it was still below par if compared to a typical game at Auburn or Florida.
Posted on 12/8/11 at 1:04 pm to rohanman
The numbers would be the same if the game were in the Ga Dome!
Posted on 12/8/11 at 1:09 pm to Eighteen
how is it worth anyone's time to try to convince Bama fans what the stands are going to look like? They'll figure it out.

That game was on of the quietest games I've ever been to. The bamer fans only make noise when told too. They do their roll tide cheer and sweet home cheer and that's about it.

But I thought Bama fans had deeper pockets?
Cause they have holes in their pockets, maybe?

Of course this assume that all the buyers in louisiana are LSU fans.
It also, on the other hand, assumes that all the buyers in Alabama are Alabama fans.
