Welcome to Death Valley. Enjoy your trip.

First off, welcome to BR. Go see Mike. Don't act like an idiot when you get Tigerbaited. If you feel like it, watch the band march down Victory Hill. See the cannons by the ROTC building. Bottom of the Union has nice T.V.'s if it ends up being too hot for y'all.

Chimes on campus best to eat and drink, check out Mikes pad (million plus ), watch the tiger band come down Victory Hill, walk around the various tailgates and sample cajun cuisine, not a bad idea to check out Alex Box, be in your seat BEFORE the band is out on the field probably like 30 minutes prior to kickoff very important

This can't be said enough. Walk....a lot. The place is gigantic. There are interesting things to see in every corner. If you just walk around the stadium, you'll miss a lot.

They say this guy goes to visit Mike everyday around 9:00 AM. This might be pretty cool to see, especially if you are bringing kids.

So where can I see some of the traditions, history, etc...? Is there a LSU hall of fame, or hall of traditions that may have things to see from the LSU athletics? Any specific restaurants that I need to check out? Anything you can help with I appreicate!
Looking forward to it, cant wait!!!!!
Go 'EERS!
Every one of these posts has great info especially the stuff about avoiding the idiots. Keep walking and be polite, and ten feet later you will be eating, drinking, laughing, and trying to wade through a Cajun accent or two. Look for me. I'll be wearing an LSU cap with a purplel shirt.
Seriously, have a great time. Been to about six or seven other campuses (or campi), and none of them are like LSU.
Try to do everything that everyone has posted, and when you get to leave three weeks later ...

If possible, stop by and ask for a tour of the Cox Student Athlete Academic Center - impressive!

After the game, after you have been shite faced drunk all day come to 167 East State St., there will be food and such. I can show you where to park for free early if you get to Highland Coffees on Chimes St. early. Walk in get coffee ask for Jerome. I don't know what is on the menu for
saturday yet. The traffic getting out of the campus area is a bitch after the game, so come sit, relax and chill until it drops off.

Coming in on Thursday will give you a chance to do a lot. There is an LSU sports museum at the back of the campus. I saw someone posted a link to it earlier. You can go and look around the LSU football offices by the practice field (about 1/2 mile from the stadium). There is a lot of LSU football trophies, All-Americans, etc. there that you would be able to view. As most have said, TJ Ribs on Acadian has great barbeque and other LSU photos, Shaq shoe, and the Heismann Trophy.

You need to check out Walk On's restaurant. It's very good food and awesome atmosphere.

Be in the stadium for pregame, might not effect you like it does us Tiger's but it will give you goosebumps when the band turns and blast it out.
Don't miss the pregame. Be on campus early and just follow the crowd. When the team and the band walk down victory hill it will be packed. Get there early, get a drink and just hang out around the railing that will be put up shortly before. I think they will let you in the stadium around 1.5 to 2 hours before kickoff just ask bc this may have changed. Its worth going in and watching warm ups and looking around a bit. It not the type of stadium that you can walk around much. Once you enter your gate you have to stay in the section you entered. Just go to the gate on your ticket and you'll be fine. Bring binoculars and watch and listen to the student section. Its a great experience and you'll never forget it.
Please let us know how you liked it when you get back home.
Also see
Alex Box Stadium (Baseball) - walking distance from football but a little further since it was rebuilt. Read the history on the Stadium and who its named after if you don't know.

Visit the many Tiger Gift shops. The one in the Student Union is probably the best one on campus.
Bring $20 and park in one of the paid parking lots. Its worth it in my opinion. Don't leave WV flags on your car.
Near the Student Union is the Clock Tower which is a war memorial also.
Other than that just take it in.

Go to the Andonie Museum on campus by Lod Cook Hotel. It is the LSU Sports museum and has some cool memorabilia as well as the two crystal balls (thanks for the last one by the way).
Not many people know about it, and I wandered in there for a school project and I stayed there for about 2 hours.

Lots of good advice in this thread. I would add a couple of tidbits.
First, if you go out early Saturday, bring a blanket so you can rest under an oak tree during the day, especially if you have a lady friend with you - they'll remember that. It's a late start and you will probably want to get a little down time during the day. Also, although you may get treated to food at some tailgates, you might want to pack a little picnic lunch or something just in case (and an ice chest/liquid refreshments if you're not having to drive).
If you have kids or even friends with you bring a football to toss around and maybe a frisbee.
I like the food at TJ Ribs but since you are coming in Thursday you may want to do that for lunch. Mike Anderson and even Ralph and Kakoos are more in the line of traditional Louisiana seafood restaruants.
If you want the opinion of some fellow SEC fans, maybe post your question on the SEC Rant (don't believe everything the say though.)

One restaurant I haven't seen mentioned is Louisiana Lagniappe. Go there Thursday or Friday night and you will not be disappointed. Check out their website. Louisiana Lagniappe
