Awful take

I was just looking ahead to 2021 - it will be different when we see Palmer or one of the Freshman break out, but with 9 on the roster now and 4 potentially leaving before 2021 it will be a huge adjustment. Any injuries will really be felt.

Looking at 247 for 2021 recruiting brought this to my attention - it states 6 WR on roster and 1 commit. They obviously left off the incoming freshmen (and Kirklin), but made me look into it further.

Edit: most other schools show 13 WR on their rosters... Just numbers and we have great talent, but with injuries it could get interesting.

I see your point. O’Neil two of these young guys will have to step up and be a lead WR. We’ll know more after 2020 if we need to panic

In 2017 Alabama won a National Championship with 3 freshmen wide receivers.

Why worry? Be happy.

Calvin Ridley and Robert Foster were their 2 leading WRs

We will have boutte, Palmer, Gilbert for 2021

Koy Moore, Adams, Jenkins and most likely taking 5 wr in this class. We will be fine

We won’t have a belitnikof winner every season. Guys like chase are rare

Are any of the incoming Freshmen early enrollees? If not, that leaves just 6 bodies(extremely talented) available for spring practice. That’s tight.

I don't think there are any early enrollees at WR this year. You could maybe include Arik Gilbert (TE), but he is recovering from shoulder surgery and will not practice.

It is very thin. I was looking at other teams rosters at WR and most had 14-17 WRs and LSU had 10.

If we're chunking it around like this year we're gonna be a WR magnet and a revolving door. Just comes with the territory.

Still a long way to go before this could be a reality. But even just taking those 5 in to account, Trey Palmer and Boutte were 5 star level talents. Jenkens, moore and adams all bring some added tools to the table and should be able to contribute. We could have a grad transfer or 2. And finally we probably have a huge wide receiver class next season and WR is one of the easier positions to get on the field as freshmen. And thats without mentioning our tight ends.

You have lost your damn mind. We have one of the deepest wr corps in the nation. All of our wrs can contribute to this team. Where as alot of times, wr corps will only be about 4 deep with actual contributors. All of our wrs can play ball. We have plenty. I don't see terrace Marshall entering early either bc chase will be our number 1 this season and will enter the draft. Marshall will be our number 1 after he leaves and be set for first round money the next draft. I see him here for all four years.

Why are you freaking out about 2 years from now?

I’m not freaking out. Didn’t start the thread. Hadn’t even thought about it until today. Just responding to the OP with a little offseason discussion.

Chase was our #1 this year, and Jefferson left early. And Marshall is a much more physical NFL prospect than Jets. And with his injury history, and just about every JR with any success leaving early, I wouldn’t count on him coming back for his SR year at all. A couple of Palmer, Jenkins, Boutte, Moore, or Adams are gonna have to step up to be the leaders of the ‘21 group. I have no doubt they will, but they still have to actually do it. But I don’t think anybody’s panicking, just talking.

I would be more worried about it if we hadn't signed Gilbert in this class. Him and Kole Taylor are like big WR's. Also good that we got that last minute commitment from Alex Adams. So we wont be in that bad of shape but might have to rely on one or two of the true freshman that we sign in next years class for depth or in case of injuries. It's not a good position to be in when you have to rely on true freshmen so hopefully we get a couple who are up for the task, and that are early entries. Same deal at the safety position on defense.

Remember the 2 beast true freshmen TE we got plus Pettigrew is coming back. With those guys plus the Rbs incorporated into the passing game we'll be fine. We do need the current WR verbal and the kid from Walker to give us height for 2020.

I thought mcmath was a JR

JR last year and will be a Sr next season. He played just enough his Freshman year to lose his redshirt (a lot on special teams).

Chase - probable early entrant, now that’s going out on a limb there, first let’s see how this season irons out, he may have to prove himself first.

The WR position is something I never worry about for LSU, LA always has them in abundance, and they're always really good.
