WR Room is a lot thinner than I would have thought

9 Guys will be in the room this season and a good possibility we lose at least 4 of them. That leaves 5 left over with another class to come in 2021.
That is really thin if you think about how we used 7 or more in most games last year.
A lot of inexperienced guys will be relied upon this year and next, but it is big that Lee was moved to D and made the room even thinner than it was.
Racy Mcmath Sr
Jontre Kirklin Sr
Terrance Marshall Jr - Probable Early Entrant
Jamarr Chase Jr - Probable Early Entrant
Trey Palmer So
Jaray Jenkins So
Devonta Lee So - moved to defense
Kayshon Boutte incoming Fr
Koy Moore incoming Fr
Alex Adams incoming Fr

That should be enough. That is a 3 deep. Will restock in 2021 as well.
Also good receiving tight ends with Kole and Arik.

Well thank god we have a massively deep WR Class in Louisiana for 2021

Have you taken a look at the 2020 class of in-state WRs? This is a good thing recruiting wise.

Yeh. Gilbert can be included as a WR. He will line up all over the field.

Boutte will make up the difference

We’re fine this year barring injuries to Chase or Marshall. And you’ve got to think Gilbert will basically be another big-bodied pass-catcher. I think it’s crucial for 2021, though, that Palmer and Jenkins take big steps this year and contribute significantly. I’d heard great things about Jenkins out of high school and am surprised he’s played so little. We also need 2 of the 3 freshmen to hit the ground running this year and play a good bit.
So, going into 2021, you’d ideally have Palmer, Jenkins, Gilbert, and presumably Boutte and Moore who played a lot in 2020 (could be Adams, but I don’t think we have room for all 3 guys to play a lot). And the 2021 WR class is supposed to be great, so if just a couple of those guys come in ready to play, we should be fine. Young, but fine. Would be sweet if Marshall came back, though.

Keep in mind that coming into last season, Marshall and Chase didn't have a lot of experience.
In 2018, Terrace Marshall had 12 catches for 192 yards. Chase had 23 catches for 313 yards. This year, both guys were close to unstoppable.
Other guys will step up. Gilbert, Boutte, Palmer - these are all 5 star guys with extreme athleticism and speed that will thrive in our offense.

LSU's offense was so hard to adjust to because they used basically the same personnel without subbing for entire drives last year. Chase and Marshall are already established and used to it and McMath is already somewhat used to it because he had significant playing time last year. So that just leaves Trey Palmer, a Tight End like Arik or one of the RBs to round out the group if they go 5-wide on certain plays (it will usually be less than that though). And your backups are there in case of injuries and to occasionally give other guys a little relief.

I’m thinking we have about 7 wr in La that could get an offer if things get thin.
ETA: McMath is going to get some catches this year.

Exactly. It’s why I think Palmer, Jenkins, and 2 of the FR this year need to see plenty of meaningful action. Don’t won’t to go into ‘21 with a group of guys who haven’t played very much—or not at all in the case of the ‘21 FR class—no matter how talented they are.

In college these days, everybody is young. He get a few vets sprinkled in with freshmen, that’s how is been for years at every position on every big program.

They may not have had a lot of catches, but they were both on the field a ton as FR (when Marshall was healthy). We just didn’t toss it around in ‘18 like we did ‘19, obviously.

I may be wrong, but I think the OP’s concern—or at least it should be—is the potential lack of experience for the ‘21 group. We need to play a lot more guys in ‘20 than your post suggests. Otherwise, Brennan may be gone with Chase and Marshall, and ‘21 becomes another rebuilding year instead of another championship run.

Meh. It’s awful if he’s worried about this year, but maybe not so in ‘21.

5 coming back and the ‘21 WR class in La is nice.
