Goddamnit Jake, you can call me a fig all you want, but you leave H&O out of this. I can't go for that. No, no.

But seriously, the problem with your wife's take is that is implies that LSU chose and is continuing to choose to employ Les Miles rather than Nick Saban. Which is retarded. We didn't fire Nick to hire Les, he left. And he is currently employed at another university. He is not available to be the head coach at LSU. So who gives a frick if he's better than Les? There's nothing we can do about it. I'm sure as shite not gonna pine like a heart-broken schoolgirl over the "one who got away." You losers can feel free to, though.
FULLY AGREE WITH THIS!

I do salute the guy for having a wife who has an opinion on sports. My wife probably doesn't know who Nick Saban or Les Miles are.

So.
We've devolved to what our wive's think about Les vs our former coach that has a job already now ?
I eagerly await news of your nices & nephews opinions on Peace in The Middle East.
Please shoot me.

So your wife, who knows nothing about football until you taught her thinks Nick is better than Miles. Hmmmmm....I wonder where she got that idea. It's like having trained monkey. Husband "This is how I feel." Wife: "Makes sense to me I feel that way too." What a waste of time.

I don't agree about players "needing someone they hate" because I was coached by a hard-azz dildeaux when I was younger and although we had a lot of talent, we didn't win $hit. Why? Because his schemes sucked. That was in football.
I had him as a coach a few years later and he had mellowed a lot and was much cooler. His schemes for basketball played to our strengths and we won the whole damn thing.
I think kids need someone who doesn't like to deal with excuses and who demands respect and attention. On top of that, to win a championship, they need a coach with great planning and scheming. Saban has all of that. That's why he wins. If he was just an azzhole with Lou Tepper's scheme, he'd be just an azzhole.
I like Saban's style, although I think his personality could use big adjustments at times. But I love how he demands accountability and I do like how he gets fired up in games. There are many types of personalities that can win championships. Look at Bowden and Paterno. Neither are known for being azzholes, but they knew their stuff and players respected them and paid attention.
Miles has a very different approach than Saban, but I would like to see him be a little like Saban when we get screwed on calls like we did at Bama with the INT. Georgia got a freaking apology from the SEC for being called for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty against us. They said the refs were wrong. Then refs got suspended for a similar thing after Arkansas got ripped off against Florida. Yet, both the guys doing the game on CBS, and every other sports person I saw in America stated that PP had an INT. against Bama and we were ripped. We never heard a peep out of the SEC about that.
I wish Les would have either went nuts on the sideline to try and get in the ref's head before the review or afterward on the SEC officials. You know, just for piece of mind. Let your team know you're fighting for them. They had the ability to review that play and they STILL screwed us. How could everybody see it one way and the refs see it different. Les said they were handling it internally. Well, that's not good enough for a lot of people down here. Cajuns, etc. aren't known for handling matters quietly. If refs feel you're a pushover, it just might not affect them that much to make a call against you that they know is shady.
He does get fired up sometimes and I like to see that. In the end, if he wins, I really don't care how it happens. But when you lose more than usual, people want to see fire cause that's what they're feeling.

By the way, come pick your wife up.
Haha...kidding. It did come out much longer than I intended (especially for this great thread). The Tepper part I think was actually a good point.

I agree totally!! Just watched the whole special, and came away with the same impression. I back and even defend Les, only because he's OUR coach, but he's not half the coach that other guy is.

I'm not convinced your wife knows anything. I have many friends who said they were embarrassed by Nick Saban's screaming. Many great coaches never screamed and belittled their players.

look how he is up in their face yelling at them, the army uses drill sargents because it WORKS, these are 17-20 year old kids, they don't need a great uncle they need someone they hate, but in the end will be thankfull for the rest of their lives.
Dude, I can't believe you and everyone else on this board missed the obvious clues. Your wife wants you to dress up as Saban and play spank the naughty cheerleader with her. Or heck, maybe she wants you to dress up like a drill sergeant and play spank the naughty cadet. But she definitely wants you to get a little more agressive in the bed room.

i never thought what my wife said would get a 4 page rant...too bad i can't tell her because she would go crazy over all the lovley things said about her. anyways like i said before, i should have known better than to subject my wife to the dumping grounds that is the rant.
