No one is tossing him on a trash heap. Trading for Tyrann Mathieu is not what's done with trash. I don't see how you inferred that? In fact, Fournette and Mathieu should each be honored by the comparison. Plus, it's hypothetical, goofus.

No way in hell.

TM7 was an animal but lets bump this thread mid season when Tra White has multiple sacks, forced fumbles, ints being used as a "Honeybadger" role with a way smarter defensive coordinator putting him in position to succeed.

If Chavis were still running the show. Maybe I'd make this swap but with our phenonminal DB's. Lets keep the GOAT RB and hope we have a passing attack that allows him to break multiple 60+ yd TD's

We have someone of Guice's caliber every year at LSU

No sir! Kevin Faulk, Jeremy Hill, Dalton Hilliard and Fournette. Those are the only backs comparable to Guice in the last 25 years. As good as Joseph Addai and LaBrandon Toefield were, they were not at Guice's level.

He had something to prove before Bama last year. WTF is that? Something to prove? If we beat Bama this year do we go out in 2017 and half-arse it because we no longer have something to prove? That's loser talk, man.

And your dumbass thinks this somehow has anything to do with the thread. You hate Mathieu. We get it, Lee.

Someone criticizes TM and they're the dumazz? We get what the thread is about you fking idiot. But these people that wanna put him on a pedestal above LF and somehow believe he could actually win games for us by hinself???...really??? You're the dense one simpleton.
He made some spectacular plays while he was here but a dominant running back is gonna have more impact on the final score than a DB making a play or two that may or may not affect the momentum of the game.

Tyran was a game changer but he no showed twice in the same seaon against Bama

What? You mean when he was part of a defense that went almost two complete games without letting Bama cross our goal line? This, even though our offense was giving Bama the ball in good field position and leaving our defense on the field too long.

If you fail to realize how heroic that defense played in both Bama games that year, then you just don't understand the game. And Tyrann was a big part of that. I'll never forget when they isolated that big tight end on him, and Tyrann manhandled him in the open field.

Yes, I have to agree with you. Mathieu was clearly not great at stripping the football and scoring TDs.

In fact, Mathieu was great at just about everything. Remember when Florida, out of desperation, put the game in Andre Debose's hands? They sent him on a fly on successive possessions. He beat Mo Claiborne for a TD on the first one. On the next possession they tested the Badger. It was mano y mano, Mathieu against the fastest WR in football. Mahieu was step-for-step and won the jump ball in the end zone. Game. Set. Match!

I got chills reading that. He truly was special. Hate he didnt get a ring. That '11 team was something else.

to the '16 team going start to FINISH like '11 did(and didnt). I think we have the personnel to do so.

If I'm choosing either player for one season, I'm taking TM7.

I think a better trade proposal (or mock fantasy draft to be more accurate) is whether you take Patrick Peterson or TM7.

This.

The outrage those 2 shared was laughable.

There are 2 players since Les took over that I would trade LF7 for, and it is mainly b/c of how valuable their positions are in comparison to the RB position.

TM7 because I've never seen another player like him.
JR because we'd be set at the QB position.

That is it. 1 led the bcs in passer rating, the other is an all-pro safety/corner/linebacker.

TM7 and this one really isn't close.

I disagree. I'd take TM7 but Peterson has more value than you're admitting and I think it is close. Peterson could lock down the elite Julio Jones and AJ Green types better than TM7 could and was about as good on special teams.

That being said TM7 is going to get you more sacks and fumbles, which is why I give him the marginal edge in value.

He has plenty of value, just not nearly as versatile as TM7 and doesn't impact the game the same way.

More sacks, fumbles, interceptions/pd's, tackles. He can also provide you depth at Safety, nickel, corner, and is outstanding in run support.

And while Peterson is an elite cover corner, TM7 is pretty damn special there too

Turnovers provide the biggest impact on a football game. 8 turnovers in 2011 alone. It's just unreal.

and was about as good on special teams.

On the return side, sure. TM7 was the best gunner we have ever had

We gave up something like 6 yards in put coverage going into the national championship in 2011. Landry could supply a hit, but I disagree.

Eh, if you look at individual plays, LSU has lots of guys that can make those plays if they're in the perfect spot. What made Mathieu so special was that game after game he was right there. A nose for the ball like no one I've seen.
